| I think there are many kind of so called expert or Pro. eg. range pro, pro pro, aspiring pro etc etc. As long as whoever provide the view as his personal view and does not represent another, I think its fine. At least to me, the excitement comes fm the uncovering .... | |

| Hey... Sorry if i mislead others... I am just hoping that others should know who they should actually talk to if they want to know to play propre golf and not learn golf in a forum. hehehe... thats the reason why i am writing this...... not to aim at any particular forummer. Sorry if i sound like i am directing at somebody..... | |

| nopw, no prob, i am also for learning from the right pros, thats why we gave playing pros and teaching pro the red color nicks, so they can be distinguished, also they are some players with credentials like Daren Lim, amongst many other single handicappers and clubfitters like DGMan wihin our midst.
in the end the person here has to be a discerning reader, the internet is always filled with "helpful" advice. there's no watchdog to govern this, we just have to learn to sift through all the crap to find the real gems.
but if u have a swing problem, see a coach, if u are looking for equipment, its what work for you and not what is written in the gazillion reviews or comments. there's no best, there's some things that are better, but they may not be for you or I.

| sometimes one cannot learn the truth if they are only told the truth...... also sometimes one size does not fit all.....a athletic pro may not know the limits or physical characteristics of an overweight golfer or a guy pro may not know the problems of a well endowed lady..... plus not everybody can afford a coach......some (like me) scrap by on cheap equip, 2 games a month and range 2-4 times a month like talking about soccer (when we all know nuts about English soccer but have pearls of wisdom on how Capello should be coaching England), its fun to talk cock about golf. Its the exchange of ideas (wrong or right) and comparing to the know pros comments that we learn (and actually follow)

| I remember some chinese kung fu....where it states something like ' to fight posion, one need to use poison '
could this be interpreted as to improve golf, one needs to get enough dosage of 'debatable tips' ??
well, mine has always been to focus on 'good shot retention'.

| Aiya, Duffader simple mah if it is crap posting just point it straight out or "hoot" lor, if it is nice and deserving posting, just thank and appreciate the forumer for that post. I always believe in responsible posting on oneself, so if anyone give me crap he or she will get shit from me.(especially golfing matters- if i happen to read it... ha ha).
Likewise, If i do give crap - i will take it like a man and get "HOOT"

| I look at the logo on top of this website, it says Singapore most active forum. That is part due to active forumers, be it their "right" or "wrong" posts. I believed GR celebrates when certain milestones are reached e.g. 10,000 posts etc and it is rightfully a bonafide reason to celebrate. Coz amongst those 10,000 posts, there are gems of advice, news, reviews, sharing etc that are really good and many of them aren't coming from the pros. Pros are busy folks, not like us always on the internet Take the good with the bad bro, this ain't perfect world nor it is an english exam. Relax. I wouldn't take things too seriously here. GR will get better in time. ps: however (just in case) if I'm one of those you think are at faults, then do accept my apologies. | |

Just wondering , who you want to be "Nice" to ???? Hi and68low, i am not being 'nice' to anyone lah. Maybe can also tell who the credible ones are and who are not from the replies to this thread...... and when you want to "hoot' or when you get 'hoot', you will also want to know the reason why right? maybe in the first place, you have been misled...

| if u read WRX forum, then GR is a fresh welcome....... apparently according to WRX, -50yo hit their 7 iron 140 yard easy and my claims of hitting only 120-130yrds is ridiculous and outrageous (despite me claiming that i am a beginner) and i should be hitting 150 yrds -normal young men should hit driver 250yrds average and can reach 280-300yrds cause they only hit 80% power on their normal drives, -SC is god and any negative comments against SC is blasphemy..... -Callaway is crap, X-forged plays like GI irons, TM is a sellout but the latest R9s is the next best thing in golf -200yrds with a 7 iron is possible
however if you read carefully you realize that many of them are single digit handicappers, play in competitions regularly, some are even long drive competitors, and many have scored in the low 60s before.

| a bit off topic but as per my own post, it really doesn't matter how far you hit your irons and the biggest mistake a beginner can make is comparing how far you hit your clubs with your friends...use whatever it takes to get on the green...the easiest way for a beginner to improve is to hit 50-100 balls at every driving range session between 30-100m.... | |

| thats why i first out to clarify if i am the one sounding arrogant and misleading pple, i tend to have a higher post count cause i talk a lot of crap, partly cause thats just me and also partly because its generating activity, good or bad. so if any of my post sound that way, "hoot" away, i can take as well as i can give. i can laugh at myself as well as i can laugh at others, to my flightmates in Ria, "Phil Mickelson" flop shot! (internal joke) | |
