| For me, the punch is more accurate....specifically if there is a tight green or need to go under tree......I kinda call it knock down..
But then, fm distance perspective, I still get more with full swing ..solely because I only can do 1/2 swing with punch....as my perogative then is accuracy
Disclaimer: I am a pretty ave golfer......what I had learnt is that when I give comments/advice, it mostly ended with me, correcting what I had given out....hahahah

[/quote] Quite high chances will duff...or the '4K' shot (ki ki kok kok)....and then roll to 10m..... but due to my limited ability and range phobia, I can and will only do punch shot fm 6 iron and below..(7, 8 etc etc). Anything else, I die ugly ugly

| I do not use much punch shot as it is difficult to control my ball. Unless I am force to use it only when I need to shot my ball low under the tree ( I do not even consider about wind ..). I usually use my 4 or 5 iron to do my punch as the loft was much lower then 7 or 8 irons. The long length of 4 irons does not bother me since I choke down on the club to get better control .... I only swing about 9 to 3 o'clock to hit low punch shot and hope the ball will low and roll allot. However, with my talent. I can only do 60% distance compared to my full swing ... Just my 2 cents .. Please correct me if there are ways to do it better | |

Just my 2 cents .. Please correct me if there are ways to do it better I think you can also try putting the ball back in your stance and also lean forward.

| I think knockdown and punch shot is totally different.
Knockdown is one club less distance, good against the wind. Punch is lower running shot, usually for recovery.
Let say for 5 iron (for me) Full Swing - 150m carry Knockdown - 140m carry Punch - 60m carry but rolls depending on terrain.

| My understanding of a punch and low shot is different. A low shot is just a low shot...hitting it low.
Where as a punch short is what Tiger call a "Stinger" A low powerful piecing shot like a laser beam shooting towards the pin.
Duval your definition is same as mine.
Well....I could be wrong......anyway as long as it is on happy leow lah.

| a knockdown is a controlled shot that is lower in trajectory to avoid the effects of wind that is usually stronger above 20-25m | |

| Although I am not expert in this, the way I do knockdown is to put the ball slightly near to right leg than normal, three-quarter swing... three quarter finish..
It is definitely lower in trajectory than normal full swing but it will stops quick also...
If I can do this everytime I actually prefer a knockdown compared to full-swing but I cannot execute it consistently.
