| Birdman, Ivan & FrosTEE (BFG@OCC) changed the default DG S300 steel shafts on my Nike CCi clubs to NS Pro ones that are lighter. If 'some' bosses would pay their employees what they owe them and pay them on time, I could afford to upgrade my golf set. For now, I am stuck with irons that are slightly too unforgiving and wood shafts that are too stiff and a 9.5-degree driver that is both heavy & stiff. | |

- hi yuki,
i would recommend Allen Kelly aka Shorthitter at Laguna. he is my second coach, i feel that i learn much more from him than my previous coach. Swing wise and distance wise i have improve under his teachings. Do talk to a few of coaches or students of the coaches before deciding. Hi there, I'm interested in going for lessons at Laguna as well....does the lessons include a PC Test? THanks.. nope. The PC test is separate. U can pm shorthitter directly for more info. If u range at laguna in the morning, i might have seen u before. Can always go laguna range together I just started at Laguna though....so probably that wasn't me....I usually go in the night where it's cooler and more quiet. I usually go to CDANS....problem is I've been playing for a while and I think I should get a coach before I develop more bad habits.....wanna get a Handicap as well so I can go to the actual courses to play....thing is i'm not sure if i should go for begainner's or intermediate...u took begainner's with shorthitter? Yuki, if you are interested to take up courses at Laguna let me know...I have another friend who is interested....the more the merrier and of course not to mention lower costs as well...

Yuki, if you are interested to take up courses at Laguna let me know...I have another friend who is interested....the more the merrier and of course not to mention lower costs as well... i took the intermediate with shorthitter. but it is more tailored to my beginner learning needs rather than really intermediate. As i have previously learned from a different coach at mbgc 2 years ago. You should just give him a call and see what he say after he take a look at ur swing.

| Hi Yuki, I'm currently taking lessons from Mr Law at Bishan. Been learning golf with him for 10 months now. He is a good golf coach, patient and very knowledgeable. You can book a free trial with him. Then you will know if you can click with him. After all, learning golf is a long process, it is better to go through this process with a coach you feel comfortable with.. Goof luck! | |

| Hi Yuki,
Im currently taking lessons from YC at Sin Ming as well. Was having the same dilemma as you before I decided who to approach for coaching. It was constant build up of bad habits the longer I delayed. So i went down to speak to YC.
Basically, he's a very nice soft spoken man, patient, and good at pointing out small minor things which can make a difference to your shots.
Had four lessons with him so far and its pretty good progress I suppose. Most importantly, he makes things simple esp with regards to the swing, and he focuses alot on the fundamentals.
You might wanna consider contacting him and going down for a trial session to see if you can 'connect' with him in terms of his teaching.
Cheers,

| Hello! Mr Law is my ex-coach but still in contact with me sometimes. Started off with him 5-6 years ago when I am in Pri 6 at Bukit Batok Range and now I am in Poly Year 2. So figure it out. A real nice guy really enjoy my time with him as my coach. Real funny when you know him better! He like my mentor in golfing to me. Preparing me well for tournament and yeah nice coach. Progress wise, he teach me to get my PC to my Handicap so not bad I guess. Haha. A very patient coach and will provide small tips to help improve your game. Personally I think he try not to get too technical to allow student to easily. Personally I feel to get a coach you must feel comfortable with him, someone who not only teach you the skills in golf but also bring joy to your game. Perhaps call him for a trial session, no harm too. If you don't really like than find another one. Cheers! All the best! Darren

| personal experience with YC Law was a terrible one. I would just like to share my experience here so others do not get fooled. He was only friendly during the trial lesson. After pocketing the fees, every lesson with him was the same. Did not teach anything actively. Appears totally uninterested during lesson. He does not follow his webby lesson plan. No chipping lesson. No putting and bunker lesson. only taught putting just before going on green on last lesson. No use of video analysis like stated on webby. Noticed that he is much more hands on teaching females during lesson. If doubtful of my feedback, just go near his bays on the left side of the range and observe quietly his approach and teaching. Noticed that he is more hands-on teaching group as more people observing. Observe that when he teaches single students he often just sits by and comment.
Terrible experience that I must share. My next 2 coaches (one golf salesman and one pro) taught me more than I ever learnt from him.

| Wish I read the reviews abt YC Law at Sin Ming before paying $750 upfront for individual lessons with him. He's the MIA coach who corrects your strokes for 5 or 10 minutes, then walks away to chit chat with others and doesn't return until 20 minutes later, corrects your strokes for another 5 or 10 minutes and walks away again. That's pretty much the all the attention you get in one "individual lesson". Soon he was taking group lessons during the same time slot for my "individual lesson". I got frustrated after a few lessons and stopped completely. Money down the drain.
Lost interest in golf for a year and it was only until I met another coach that I realised how much I was shortchanged by YC Law.

| I am also very upset by this coach. I just signed by for a refresher and during trial session he was very attentive and would follow with me to see if I want to sign up for 5 lessons. I had previous coach and this is the only one that will follow with you by text to sign up. First 2 lesson were the same, half swing and nothing new. Trying to fix 3rd lesson was a pain - either he is away or his schedules did not suit mine. One lesson learnt is that it is better to go to a range or golf club where there are bunker and putting greens so that the coach can train you on putting, bunker shots, and chipping. The one at Sin Ming has none of these and doing these shots on the range is different from the actual green. This is also one of my regrets going to Sin Ming.
So if you are thinking of bring your golf to another level, he is definitely not the guy to go.

| Guys, this is very individual, YC is my 2nd coach and I find him fantastic. I went through 5 refreshing follow by a package lesson which I have requested for. To be fair to YC, I must say he is not calculative at all, you can always go to him anytime if He is at bishan at No extra cost.
All I can say is it take 2 hands to clap, by the way, everyone must reflect ourselves whether do we have. A teachable heart.
My point of view, No harm trying,Bhopal for a trial lesson and decide later.
Comments here is only good for reference. Happy golfing to all!

| YC Law was my first coach. After a first package of 10 lessons, I stopped as I found that I was not learning much from him. He is quite passive, and will stand behind me to provide some comments now and then, or in front of me to help push 1 more ball for me to hit.
After I found my 2nd coach who uses video to record my swing, I realized that the naked eye just cannot catch mistakes in the swing, only mistakes in setup or grip. Furthermore, I am a visual person and prefer to see what I am doing wrong in the swing, and get drills to correct it.
YC Law is a nice person, friendly and not calculative. He can help to introduce the game of golf to a newbie but my opinion is he will not be able to bring golfers to the next level with his teaching techniques.
