| I thought we had a thread here on hitting longer where many people come in and give suggestions on how to hit it longer?? Since someone did say that how long a man hit is how big his tool is.... My list in order of priority. 1. Correct and consistent Swing. You cannot expect to hit it longer when you are swinging all over the place, right? I would like to clarify that there is no such things as 1 correct swing. Look at Jim Furyk. Who will dare to mimic his swing and risk there game? There are thousands of correct swing out there, you just got to find the one for you. My solution? See a pro. 2. Right equipment. Same with thousands of swings out there. There are also tens of thousands of combinations of shaft and driver heads out there. Stock set-up is also one of these combinations and do not give up on those. When you buy your new driver first, then of course try the stock set up first to see if it works. If not, the fun and spending begins!! Click on my link below and read from the beginning to share my fun. My Solution: If you got a new toy, testing it thoroughly first before putting it in play. Otherwise, see a club fitter. Remember, it is easier and more stable for the equipment to suit the golfer rather than the golfer to suit the equipment. 3. Hitting the Sweet Spot. Actually this should go hand in hand with no. 1, Correct and consistent swing. But after giving this some thought, I figured that you will definitely need to get a consistent swing first to hit the sweet spot perfect. This is exactly the reason why I am writing this now. After crushing those 300 yard drives yesterday, I noticed that all the white marks are on the centre of my club face. I did not managed to get a picture yesterday but I will try to today after my game in the afternoon. You can only do this if you stick to your equipment long enough and have a consistent swing for your game. My solution: Consistent practice and sticking to one. 'One' can be one kind of swing, one set of equipment and even one pro. Some of you out there can take the hint. 4. Working out. Make sense right? More muscles means more power. I am no gym-rat or muscle expert here but I think I can offer some bit of advise with my cow sense. Do not go running to the gym now and pump all the iron and be bulky like those monsters on the cover of Muscle Magazines. Golf is still a game of flexibility and strength. Work on your core muscles. Do a very fair and balanced rotation between cardio and weights. Yes. It messes up your body but that is what you want. A balance of strength and stamina. I used to do 1-3-5 weights and 2-4 cardio. In my weights sessions, I do 3 sets of 3; arms, core and legs. For cardio, I either do a 3 km run within 20 minutes or I spin for an hour. Another important factor that I did not managed to explore is pilates or yoga. Yes. Flexibility will definitely help your game greatly. But I did and still doing stretches consistently to loosen my muscles. Focusing on the thighs and lower back. I may got this wrong here and I welcome other feedback. I do not want to be misguiding fellow golfers here. Ok now. You folks have fun in hitting it longer. I am now concentrating on hitting it straighter. | |

| " Look at Jim Furyk. Who will dare to mimic his swing and risk there game?" I dare, I dare. I have J Furyk' s kind of swing but definitely not his distance nor accuracy kekekekkeke. Those who played with me can swear by it. titu | |

| I tries yoga and pilates before. I think it is beneficial for golf, not on gaining distance though, but in injury prevention. Yoga gives u flexibility and build up ur core muscles. Used to do yoga 3 times a week. Body never heard of back pain before. Now after one year of not doin yoga, keep having back pains for no rhyme or reason | |

| for those that are interested in working out. i do recommend considering going to take up the programme from TPI(Titleist Performance Institude), i believe they do have a personal trainer online programme. its not that expensive as their full fledge program which i believe is 5digit figure, the online version is like 135usd or something and it recommends a customised program base on your inputs and weekly updates. No point lying to the program because its just lying to yourself and whatever recommendations the programme can give. I have not personally tried it, but read the review of it on one of the golfing websites. But i do go to TPI website to check out some of the recommended exercises and stretches. | |

| Yeah, the interesting part about golf is that, with a decent swing speed/technique, driving distance of 230m(250 yds) is attainable. And from what I see at the range, it is not rare to find people among us who can reach it. So, it keeps our dream alive that one fine day, if we can match the pro's drive, we might be able to beat one PGA Pro in a Pro-Am!!
But of course, end of the day, it is the short game that determines who pay for the beer.
"Drive for show, putt for dough. I am not a Pro, show is good enough."

| in my case, the meer thought that I want to "Bomb" the ball, the more disastrous the outcome would be.
If I keep my mind blank, slowed down my backswing and "rock steady" my balance, the better distance I achieve.
I find this weird vis-a-vis to playing bowling. In Bowling, if I want to "strike" the ball, I can exert a strong finished and achieved a 90% strike.
But with golf, all the tension and eagerness to bomb the ball keeps me off my rythm or tempo thereby resulting to awful results.
Either I hook the ball, duck hook it like im just a newbie. And this is kinda frustrating.
So if i just want to drive my ball long. I just keep my mind "zen like" and slow back swing...
