| I just tried the TM rescue 09 today at the range, together with the R9 10.5 and R9 3W, all in regular flex. I must say both the rescue and 3W are very forgiving and easy to launch. However i did find that the shafts (or club head i'm not sure) was a little heavy for the flex, which is quite a departure from what TM were doing for the Burner and R7 series with their super lightweight shafts. Don't like the driver much though. | |

| Hi, I am lost!!! 1) what loft should i get to replace my 5 wood, 3I & 4I? (how far should 5 wood,3I & 4I go?) 2) which is better? titleist 585H or Taylor Made rescue dual? ( I am relatively new to the game, would prefer a forgiving club. as long as the ball flies, i dun need to shape the flight.) Thanks | |

Of coz some ppl will find that a 5W is easier to hit than a 3H, and therefore use it to plug their distance gaps. Moral of the story.. know your distance gaps first, then go out and try all the possible clubs before making that purchase.. Wah! So chun... my coach just told me something today and I will just translate it here.
Coach told me that he used to be able to hit a 1-iron. (He's old-school, aka Jack Nicklaus era). Some even say that "only God can hit a 1-iron." But as technology comes into play, Coach found that he could not hit a 1-iron off crappy lies. (ie bunkers). However, with a 1-Hybrid (15 degrees), he could. Therefore, out went the 1-iron and in came the 15 degree hybrid.
Of course. Coach is a phenomenal player and this 15 degree hybrid applies only to the elite. I will just stick to my trust 23 degree Baffler.
Hope that helps. I think there are several ppl on this forum with a 15* 1i hybrid. Some find it more accurate than hitting a wood. I still remember, I was at BFG and saw this guy with a 15* hybrid. So I asked him what distance does he hit with this. He said if he didn't force it, around 230m.. Dang!!! . .my driver is about 50m shorter than that! I guessed I must have had a stoned/glazed look, like those animals who get caught in the oncoming headlights looks.. Then he asked me.. "so what club do you use for those par 5, 2-on shots" ?? I realized that this is way out of my league; and so I replied that I don't have a 2-on club for the par 5, and am actually shopping for a 3-on club for my par 4's; and of course declined his offer of letting me try his hybrid...

I feel you bro. Also, it doesnt help that I am tall. Everytime I meet new golfers, they always says,'wow! With your size, you definately can hit very far!!!' Then I wud give a very stunned look, followed by a shy smile. Like this guy i met last sunday. He is 170 approx metres tall (i am about 184m tall) at most, but hit his 7irons to 160m straight everytime. Luckily I was standing behind him cos I was blushing. Of cos, I rejected the offer to try his clubs. See! Size does not matter!!

| The only advantage when you are tall is that you will create a bigger arc, but that is only provided if you have a good swing, means, taking away with left hand straight, should turn and swing down with hands fully extended. Some guys told me hitter and better that swinger, but in my opinion, as lon can connect the ball sweet everytime, then it doesn't matter so just needs practise. As for the Hybrids, I am using a Nakashima NX-1 3i and its them to cover the distance between my woods and Irons. So the deg doesn't matter to me really. Hybrids will be definitely easier to hit especially when you are in the rough, but I still prefer the ball flight of my woods. Lets put it this way, I am more confident of landing my ball soft with my woods than my Hybrids so its still a personal preference thingy. And hybrids can be a very good tool to putt when you are at the rough around the greens. | |

| my hybrids comes with my iron set....
i m using the adams a2 irons, with the 3 n 4 replace by hybrids....
particularly likes the 4hybrid... easy to hit n control but funny with the 3 hybrid.. juz a slight variation and it's much much more difficult to hit consistently....

| The Adams Clubs are very good clubs... i myself is looking at their A7 hybrids irons sets.. perhaps you can get BFG to check on the 3 & 4 hybrids you have in your set, maybe the shaft flex and or CPM is not not the same and does not match... | |

| Yeap, get it check, the other way. Choke down on teh 3i and practise on it. Sometimes it just psychological. After you get more comfortable with you, then you go back to normal grip. I did that on my 3wd. | |

| tx bro for advice...
i did actually tried to choke down on the 3H....it does works in a way...
but what confused me is that my ball flight for both 3H n 4H have big differences...
4H - very high n easy to controlled, tends to fade. 3H - mostly low n tends to draw.
but i still think it boils down to me being more consistent with my swing...

| could be the kick point in the shaft as well as the flex... off the racks set ... sometimes their quality may be suspect throughout the set... what i'll do when i buy a new set, i'll get my clubfitter to check through the whole set .. check the flex, loft etc..... but then my swing not consistent so its just help me psychologically ..... | |

| I am using the old Ben Hogan Ti hybrid with the crossfire shaft. I don't think it's the easier club to handle but i am contented with it. I have the #2, #3 and #4 and they all serve me well | |

| I have the TM Burner Rescue 08 25˚ which I didn't quite like at first cause I seemed to be drawing my shots with the club. I wasn't sure at first why but I managed to fix the draw and it plays pretty well. That said, I'm scouting around for the Cobra Baffler TWS. | |

| Hi all, i m new to this forum but not new to this topic. I hv been playing around with rescue clubs for a couple of yrs, toying with diff lofts and diff brands. At the end of the day, u need to ask urself what is the gap u r trying to plug, then go out there & try which brand, type & lofts suits u most.
For me, i like a compact head with minimum fuss on the crown. i m so comfortable with the original TM Burner rescue 19* i bought 2 yrs ago, i bought another 22* recently brand new from US on ebay. Then i had both shafts changed to 80g Graman shafts. Right now both rescues r my weapons.
Before i bought the 2nd rescue, i had a Sonartec (not forgiving), a Cally FT hybrid (no feel); & also tried Baffler TWS (don't like the metal strip), & 909H (great club, but expensive).

Hi who8168, welcome to Golf Republic. Thanks for your feedback on the hybrids. I'm exploring more hybrid options now. They can be a real life saver. I tried the TWS and liked it (during Cobra's Demo Day recently) - the metal strip doesn't bother me. I've not tried the 909H but after listening to you, am now keen to test it out

Tried it and seems suitable for me. Anyone selling 909H 19 or 21degree?

| Is your friend a good golfer? I've had some difficulty tackling a sub-20˚ hybrid but it may have just been the one I tried. I'd like to know if the 17˚ is tough to handle. | |

My friend has an erratic game, but shoots very well with his hybrids, usually straight and long. He hits the 17* about 200m & 22* around 180m. I've tried his 909H 17* & felt good, though it didn't go as far as my friend. Compared to my TM Burner ('07 model), it felt just a tat harsher, but still better than Callaway and Sonartec hybrids. I also like it b'cos of the compact minimalist head.
