Aswe approach the end of June, in a couple of months, starting from September till december, It is the "raining" season in Vietnam. This also equates to Typhoon season which usually hits Central Vietnam.
Based on the global weather patterns, anything seems to be possible these days. SO if you paln to holiday in Vietnam, do bear in mind the weather.

Wilkang was noticeably physically stronger on our second game. I was 2 up thruout first few holes, then my swing went awry mid game, had no energy so i tried too hard to swing it. Got 2 down as a result. After munching 2 bananas and 1 apple, I cum from behind with 4 holes to go, and got to 1 up on 18th. Wil won that hole bcoz I was too chicken shit to go for the pin
Match all square. First day at monty links also square! Another rematch in 2 weeks time.
Heard about it from wilkang last nite. You should have gone for it. Either way, no win no lose mah, Its either you win, or draw.
Actually bro PS was playing smartly, there is no point for him to cheong... if Wilkang happened to mess up, PS will be 2 up... if Wil made it, it will be all square... well, good for Wil that it was the later...
thank you here's the full field report: I had squeezed my mother's milk (plus some luck) to come back from 2 down to 1 up in 3 holes. By the time we teed off 18th I had no competitive juices anymore, just playing with no pressure. It was very windy, par 4 mid distance. I was so relaxed, I hit my best drive on that hole (against the wind) and Will hit a hybrid to go under the wind.
Will then hit a mid iron to front of green. So my conservative nature took over and thought hey I should just lay up to front of green for a chip. (the green was two tiered, pin on lower tier). I'd chipped well that day, and bet I could chip it inside him. I picked my gap wedge and aim near Will's ball.
The problem was I DUFFED my pitch a bit and the ball went short. Thus I had to pitch over a big bunker with greens 5m above. I hit an OK lob shot, landed over the pin. Then I was faced with a severe downhill putt which is exactly what I wanted to avoid I needed 3 putts for a double while Will chipped and took two uphill putts for bogey and the hole.
If I was down on that hole, I'd definitely try to hit the green with my second shot. If we were squared, I would have still laid up and aim for bogey. Yup I'm a chicken shit player

for those of you who missed the first invasion, we can always invade again early next year after the monsoon passes. General "Brandon Nguyen" will be a Vietnam veteran with two tour of duties and should be eager to form a platoon or two to conquer the land where the GIs and French Legions coud not.

This sounded soooo wroooonnnngggg!!!!
Anyway, whenever it's feasible, do consider getting a body massage after your game. I did that in Bali and felt energized the following morning.
I totally agree with WMF on the massages. I walked 5 consecutive days during my Chiangmai golf trip and for sure, after every game, the troop will go for our body massage to sooth the tired muscles. I don't think I would have lasted 3 days. I am used to walking but if I were to play 3 days in succession, the performance would have been below average on the third day. But while I was in Chiangmai, fatigue did not set in at all! Massages are very important!
Go for massages, any kind of massages....wink wiink

Interim report from Vietnam Assault Team.
As reported earlier, the team was all ready and equipped to tackle Vietnam e.g. HCM and Danang but never did they think their mission would be such a dangerous one.
It was definitely a mission fraught with all sorts of danger and espionage, right from our plane to HCM. For some funny reason, the plane was delayed for an hr due to some funny reason of plane needing to clear waste (read:shit) from the plane and resupply water. Yes, that was the reason given when yrs truly went to ask the flight attendant whom I swear could hv passed off as a double agent femme fatale albeit with the Japanese name of Nanako. And so it was, 1 hr late and our local linkup aka Colonel Winston was made to fend off hordes of Vietnamese female agents at the airport all by himself (not that he would mind, I think).
When the troops landed, it was indeed very challenging not to be seduced by the locals who were sporting cleavages spilling and tight tight outfits. Took us quite a while to convince ourselves to look for Col. Winston instead.
Anyway, we used the night to acquaint ourselves with the local food and drinks at our usual watering hole. But smtg was amiss at the nightspot where we did our R&R. Yes! This is the only army styled mission which has R&R first before the mission. hahahahaha What was amiss was the familiar locals were not there! Took us quite a while to re-work the PR connection with the new personnel there. Was a good chilled out session before the dawn attack the next morning.
To be continued.....

Day 2 of mission was our pre-dawn attack on Danang.
The team decided to pamper themselves and flew to Danang on business class. Little did they suspect that they would leave themselves so exposed to sabotage. At the biz class lounge, the troops had mostly instant noodles for breakfast. And it must have been the effect of the breakfast that caused our bombing officer, Major wilkang to behave rather weirdly.
From messaging on his iphone, for some funny reasons (read:likely to be the food), Major wil decided to jump across 2 sofas and our Major Ranger in a show of athleticism seldom seem; to point his iphone at the fishes in the tank and started texting! OMG! We had to send our medic @spiceoflife to shout at him to wake him up! But he soon recovered and the troops took the flight out and parachuted safely at Danang where a challenge awaits us; Montgomerie Golf Course.
The troops came thru the test with reasonable results and walked away happy until.....
.......a deliberate surprise attack was sprung on the team! Yrs truly had his bag of WMDs misplaced!
Worried, the team resorted to banging table, making monkey noises and sitting on glass tables to make their point that they will not leave until they see the highest in command and get an explanation. Nonetheless, we got our point across and probably a reassurance of a USD 4000 payout as compensation before retreating to our base camp.
Still, we were suspicious but hungry troops are angry troops and we left the premise for a splendid dinner near our resting pt.
To be continued tmr.....

Thanks to our orkuinisers! asahi and wil run a very tight ship.
FR from vietnam mission virgin:
right from the get go, they really like to cut it close. we were always minutes from check in closing and there was no idling in between programs. they put professional soldiers on missions look lazy!
sleep was a luxury, just like in ranger course, get what we can and plan for the next mission (who to battle with), and spliting the squad up.
ammo: Soldiers were all marksmen, didn't need much ammo (balls)
Food: A very important element to power the soldiers through their mission. We were all fed the very essential black stuff like pilots on stimps. Even the more queasy among the soldiers were game to eat what local delicacies offered.
I shall leave the terrain reviews to other professionals more equipped to show and tell. Suffice to say it was very reasonable budget wise, very challenging mission wise, very unique experience wise and exceeding expectations quality wise.

Day 3 of our mission sprung up more surprise!
Upon reaching Danang Golf Course, a local femme fatale from Monty Links came to yrs truly and returned moi bagful of WMDS to me. What the......
Hmm......likely the local resistance forces have planted a tracking bug on the bag. Nonetheless, we carried on with our task at hand and came away from Danang Golf Course safe and sound albeit with our egos bruised slightly from battling with waste lands on the course and fearsome winds throughout the Gren Norman-designed course.
The windy elements were so strong that we had to up 2 clubs at the signature par-3 and yet not able to reach the green. Most agonizing to see my ball kissed the lip of the front bunker and settling down in the bunker. Yes, 2 clubs up also cannot make it. hiaz.....
After which, it was a off to negotiation at the airport for an earlier flight out back to HCM. We learnt that we had to send our Major Ranger to exert his physical presence to get the local lass to change our flights to an earlier one (although moi had to sacrifice my v shaped frontal look to add on our firepower to convince the change to be effected.
After the change, it was a mad rush to check in with 30 mins to go; to get our bags of WNDs up onto the plane and ourselves. Managed to do all this with split-second precision and flew back to HCM!
Phew!
A refreshing massage session was then arranged to freshen up the troops before the final attack on Twin Doves the next day. It was sooooooo good that the troops had supper with the locals and were definitely refreshed and energized!
With not much time left, the troops called it a night and caught 3 hrs of sleep before another pre-dawn attack.
