| My 3rd golfing day at Vietnam Golf & Country Club. By then, I was exhausted already and running on little fuel. The 2-4 pics are of the same par 3. Monstrous! Played 210 yds on that day. And check out the green; super 2 tiered lor. After playing Twin Doves, it was rather a downer to play Vietnam Club. This is after all a woodland course and a bit rustic and old. But hey it has its charms though. With proper planning, we should hv played this course first before finishing off with Twin Doves. As seen in the pics, trees are plentiful here, so accurate drives are paramount here. That explains why the drives were more in the 200-210 m range. Actually, was because whole body aching also. hahaha | |

| Hiaz.......woke up this morning feeling weird weird one.....hiaz.....no golf and massage to look forward to. Worse, no pho, mee kia and viet coffee too! Wait, I got ta pao viet coffee.....so not so bad. All in, this trip was an enriching and eye-opening trip. Learnt a great deal about the country from Winston and saw at first hand, the crazy traffic over there. Man, those Viets can really drive and be patient there. Left to Singaporeans to drive there, 90% of us would hv died of road rage or high blood pressure. Now, here's my ratings of the 3 golf courses I played. Greens wise, all 3 clubs' greens were in immaculate condition. Putts held true to its line, so missed putts can only be down to the putter-er. Though I find the greens at Twin Doves & Viet Club a tad too hard. In terms of course design and condition, Twin Doves trumps here over the other two, with Song Be a second. Twin Doves is a thinking man's course and very deceiving in terms of the giving the illusion that the fairways are wide and roughs are 'not that bad'. So one has to really zoom in on the landing spots to get a good lie for the approach shots. Roughs are crazy as well, with the grass really encapsulating your ball well to force you to hit it out deep and clean. The Song Be experience would have been better if not for Desert Course. Still hating that course. hahahaha......But there's always Lotus Course to try the next time round. As for club facilities, Twin Doves being the new boy, is the runaway winner here. Everything smacks of technology, well-oiled operations and pristine maintenance. For caddies, the one at Viet Club are tops, as seen by my caddie who gave me a lot of very impt putting lines to win a massage from my flightmate. Twins Doves' caddie are new and less responsive, so this is one area they have to improve on to make it an even better experience for the golfer. Btw, though I did not quite like Viet Club this time round; played the West Course. There is always the East Course which I was told was more scenic and challenging. So there is always hope to love this course the next time round. Finally, at the end of the journey, I found my namesake beer!!!!!! At the airport! [img][/img] So it was, a beri beri fitting and happy ending to my overseas mission at HCM. Still, got some unfinished biz up north.....will be planning for the next wave of attack. | |

| Just arrived in Danang this morning and went to play at Montgomerie Links.
Beautiful course. Played from blue tee which makes it tough. There is no rough, just alot of pockets of trees. If you miss the fairway and end up in the trees, very difficult to find ball. Condition of fairways and greens are Excellent!! Most of the greens are easy but guarded by numerous deep bunkers filled with hard sand and entrance into the greens are narrow. Also if you are not used to playing in windy conditions, this is not an easy course to play. Playing into the wind, my tee shot barely cleard the water 150yds away. having said that, with the wind from the back, tee shot went 280yds. Regarding the weather, it can get quite hot as iis just off the cost line but the wind is really really cooling.
Pics to follow....
