I am considering to buy hybrid (utility) club for use in rough. Any good recommendation? Thanks!

TM Rescue, Cleveland Launcher, Adams Pro, Ping G15, Cobra TWS, Mizuno MX700, Nickent 5DX, etc etc...check out the golf digest hot list, all of them are pretty good. Can always go the weekly range meetups and politely ask to try out other members hybrids

I am using the TM Rescue but i am considering the Raylor, cause many times i am hitting off the rough, where the ball is sitting more than 1/2 way in the rough, which is difficult with the wood-like hybrids. Most of the times will thin the ball. Never tried it though and not sure how to practice with it at the range. For now will use my 5 iron out of the rough.

TM burner rescue for me too! Using a 4 hybrid now. Sweet club to use.
Thinking of getting a 2 hybrid. Swung a few times with TWS. Not bad. Pretty forgiving.
Another to try would be Cleveland launcher

I'm using TM R7 Draw Rescue 4H Regular Asian Spec. It's good, but the current problem is that it's too whippy for me now.

My other hybrid is Mizuno MX700 3H Stiff Asian Spec. My current favourite club in my bag. Real life saver...

I suggest you go to demo days or Golf House to try for yourself...

I swear by my 2 Kasco K2K hybrids.... rounded sole makes it very versatile, and easy to hit off all lies...

I'm using the Titleist 585H hybrids in 19* and 21*. I use them in place of my 2i and 3i. If I play a course that is known to be 'unfriendly', I'll even pull my 4i and use my 585H 24* in its place. I get some good distance off these hybrids, so no complaints

Adams A7, with Axivcore Tour Hybrid shaft. Nice shaft, stable, penetrating flight. Head size just right, not so big like a wood. Smaller head size is easier to use in rough.

You can try my A7 on next range session. I'll also bring my TM Burner 08 rescue, very decent club as well.

Silver,

Suggest you do some research first on what you want out your hybrid. Quite tired now so I may be a little muddled in what I'm about to say, so plese exsqueeze me.

Consider first which you hit better, irons or woods, since there are hybrids that are either more iron-like or wood-like. Go for a hybrid designed more like the clubs you hit better, they will perform similarly.

Iron-like hybrids tend to cut through the rough due to it's sharper leading edge and narrower sole requiring a steeper angle of attack, wood-like hybrids tend to spread the grass and glide through the rough with it's much broader sole, better suited for a shallower sweeping swing.

Note too that there are hybrids with a shallower face from top to bottom or deeper face. Shallower faces mean a lower CG for higher and easier launch. Deeper faces make for a more penetrating trajectory. There are also certain brands that are for more advanced players meaning some recommendations made may not be suited for you as they are from the recommender's perspective vis a vis their skill level.

Also, hybrids touted as replacing the equivalent iron would most probably launch the ball anywhere up to one club longer, causing distance gaps in your clubs. Because they are easier to hit and launch and also hybrids are trending towards stronger lofts by up to anywhere up to 2 degrees these days.

Best thing is to try for yourself and see if you like the ballflight, feel, and sound.

Good luck.

Try the bobby jones hybrid. I find it's the easiest to play.

Check out this site from THP. These are last season's hybrids but still worthwhile considering, particularly as they may now be more affordable Smile

I recently acquired a 22* Raylor which I bought from Isetan.
And it's a amazing club. Easy to hit and gives better distance too.

Although, I liked Mactec & Callaway hybrid too

Surprise that TM and Nike did not make it into the top5. Think they got GOLD on golf digest.

moral of the story: take review with a pinch of salt and try it out for yourself to see what you like better...

i personally like THP's review much better, they comprise of people with various handicaps hitting the clubs and giving their take, even if you don't agree with the conclusion, you can look more in depth at the comments from the various handicap groups and narrow down your search to those few models.

I am gaming a Cleveland Launcher and Ping G15, both very characteristics, the G15 feels sweet when struck right, the launcher is easy to launch(pun)

Just got a TM Tp rescue 2I. Feels solid upon impact.

TM Burner 09 3 Hybrid. Excellent sound and very easy to hit. One of the best buy out there in my opinion.
