beginner here. i want to learn to backspin the ball

Someone once asked jack nicklaus the same question.  Jack asked him if he puts his ball past the pin every time and in regulation.  The person says no.

It's just like your side-spin except that you use more hip movement and drop your nuts lower.

I just want to move the ball forward....

One quick way of trying it. Put your weight on your front foot, put the ball a bit back in the stance to have more of a downward strike. Use a higher lofted club like a 56 or 52 and you'll see alot more effect.  

The old Titleist Vokey spin milled wedges were great at this but tore up the cover of the ball pretty quickly.

Only my driver can backspin, the rest of my clubs cannot.
