So sad... why range can & green can't!!!

Aiyo, monday when to play at tanjong puteri. Green was great, fee was great, company was superb!

But my game just SUCKS!!!

I had been practising hard on range and in between I played exec course to try out myhit rate on green. Everything was so good and my swing on range is very satisfying too.

Everytime on green, it just SUCKS from hole 1-18. Tee off was acceptable, short game wasn't bad & usually 2 putts to cup. BUT! all my fairway shot just SUCKS!!! Most of the time top the stupid ball and sometime shank the shot all the way to the left!!! My left is STRAIGHT left...

I know by asking here without any video of myself will not help me get any good advise but showing my range shot will not help much too cos it mostly good contact...

Ok bros, just treat that I'm shouting out my frustration on my own lousy game...

Hey jtek, chill chill...

Think I might know why you're topping or thinning your shots.

At the range, your "focus" is at the ball, and not so much where the ball ends up at the range.

But at the course, you're more "result" focused, hence your instinct is to look at to where the ball lands, hence your head moves to look towards the target EARLIER than the ball leaves the grass, hence the term "come up and out of your swing".

This usually leads to a thin or topped shot.

Don't be discouraged bro, we've all been there, you're certainly not alone.

Work on staying within your shot longer before looking at where the ball is going. I wouldn't use the phrase "keep your head down" as these days, that term is widely debated.

I'm sure you'll do just fine in your next game

aiyo this game is like that one.... everyone will go thru this stage

at range is prefect condition but on the green is all kind of condition eg. uneven ground, weather, etc

so dun just frustrated and stay cool

To iimprove......suggestions only

#1 ....spend equal amt of time at range and actual course.....then slowly progress to spend more time on actual course than on range....

#2 if need to do range....don buy too many balls......I am a cheapo...I buy only 50-70 balls....and objective is to hit at least 80% decent good shots...

And thats why I am a seasoned ............beginner

This is normal lah, part and puzzle of golf game... Now and then I also have this problem, sometimes is driver, sometimes is iron... its part of "growing up" in golf... In range condition is perfect and you can always hit a 2nd short, third shot, fourth shot etc... Hence your mental and psychological condition is different from playing at green. Hence many always said Golf must not only have good golf swing but more importantly strong mental strength....

Later when u can hit well in fairway, you'll face another challenge of approach shot, chipping, putting, course management etc... All this will become part of the game and you'll have to tackle them one by one to make progress...

Golf need practice; both in range and green... Slowly but surely... keke...

Hehe Duval, Crystal say you low hcp leh, maybe you're of beginner standards to yourself, but I'm sure most of us would be damn happy playing in the 80s like you lor

Eh brother Jake, I think by your standards, the only way you will play 100 and above if you were to lose your half your clubs in the lake by the turn, and complete the back 9 with only a wedge and putter lor...
