Possible reasons for not going to green

There was always one grp of uncles practicing at one of the West side range daily without fail. They can hit the ball very well using irons, hybrids, woods & drivers. They can hit with distance n accuracy! They can even "teach" u at the range to correct your mistakes etc.

Seiko: Uncle, your shots all so power one! how long have u been playing?

Uncle*acting to be humble*: My shots ok lah! Me? I played for about 3yrs liao.

Seiko: Wow! Uncle dont be so humble lei! You machiam like resident pro here lei. Everyday same timing report. So where do u normally play? JB, S'pore or Batam?

Uncle: No lah! I never played before in the green.

Seiko *shocked*: What? Uncle, u nvr played in the green before. Not even once? y?

Uncle: no need one lah!!! Play at the range can liao.

I thought its every golfers dream or inspiration to train hard at the range n test it out in the green. Judging from their expensive golf set, I don't think money is a problem to them! So what are the possible reasons for them not to go to the green? I just want to understand the logic behind.

range is getting a bit boring. I want to see my ball bounce on a hard surface, roll down a slope with a strong back wind and achieve my dream of a 300m drive. Then on the green with the 2nd shot for a 500m par five hole. Because of a huge break, decide to flop instead of putt 10m away, on the green and the see the ball roll into the hole

So many scenarios i want to achieve on the green.
