- Trick question....
The best driver for a beginner is not a driver... But a fairway wood (no shame if he / she tees off with a hybrid even) Bro - I am the opposite. I cannot tee-off with fairway wood. Driver since beginning to play golf. I think the old RBZ or RBZ Stage 2 are good and forgiving drivers.

| Just buy something cheap with a big head off the classifieds section. I think the money is better saved until your friend is able to hit driver more consistently and appreciate a new driver.
I remember the ghastly sky marks on my driver when I started on golf.

| It's difficult in the beginning for a newbie, but also cannot keep on using other people's driver. If he doesn't have a driver in the bag now, can just get a cheap 2nd hand driver to practise first.
Personally I've used G15 for past 3 years, and tinkered with others like TM, Cobra, etc but I still find G15 most forgiving and good distance.

| I went to the shop to pick up a G15 for my friend and thought I'd test it before I passed it to him..... unfortunately for him the G15 is going nowhere except my bag. If you've never hit one of these you should. I'm still in complete shock as to how good the club is. Straight and very long. Even off centre hits seem to fly straight and down the middle. Bit of Ping magic in this one. I'm not a beginner but I think this club would be perfect for all abilities. | |

totally agree. My clubs including putter are all TM except for this driver. As a TM whore I tried to switch to TM driver with disastrous results. The only good part of my game is can drive, but cannot arrive . I'm considering to change out all my clubs to Ping instead of changing driver to TM.

| The RBZ 1 is amazing, it was the driver that gave me my first decent flight as a beginner. Even now when I borrow it from my friend to hit, the sound and launch still rock my socks! | |

| The old TM Burners (not the 2.0 which I totally don't like) are very easy to hit and can be bought for cheap. | |

| Yes, G15 is very forgiving and will be suitable for all level of golfers.
In my opinion, I find that the TM R5 & R7 series are the easiest to launch.
