| Okie confirmed it is him. Feeling very sad.
He is (so hard to say "was) gentle and kind. Such a person is hard to come by.
Life is short. We should learn from this brother, to be gentle and kind to everyone. At least, when our time is up, we know we have impacted other people's lives and will be remembered fondly, that way, we know we didn't live our lives in vain. Yes, this brother lived his life to the fullest.
Dear brother P, rest in peace. I will always remember you. Thanks for all the range-ing, karaoke and fun. Thanks for all the chit chat and sharing. Thanks for the beer. If there was more time, I would sing you another few more songs. Though my mandarin pronunciation sucks, I am glad you think I sang very well. When I next go to the ktv, I will dedicate those 2 songs (yong qi and zhi sao hai you ni) to you. Bye brother. Love, sister momo.

| RIP Bro. I went through my own little health issues last year. The warning signs were there and I ignored them and paid a heavy price. If you feel something is not quite right, get it checked out immediately. Singapore healthcare is good, cheap, and plentiful. | |

| His obituary is in today's papers, I believe.
Very sad and very surreal. Hope he's having a nice round up in the clouds right now and looking down on us.

| Now I am really shocked. After seeing the tip from MoMo333 it's "P" my guess immediately turned to Paul. I was invited by him to join the Palm Springs game but I am working on that day and could not join. Played with him at Palm Villa and Poresia before. A really nice and friendly chap. I am really sad. He's still so young and am surprised.
On a personal side, I have told my family to be prepared in case I suddenly leave this world because of my current health condition. I may look healthy from the exterior but I got a defective heart valves problem that's waiting to stop anytime I get engage in strenuous exercise or exert too much physically. I have since slowed down my pace in life, just to be on the safe side.

| I haven't had the privilege to know him at all but from all the postings above, he's definitely someone who lit up the lives of many others in his life journey. RIP Bro. Condolences to the family. | |

| RIP bro Paul. Condolences to his family.
I am in shock too. We met a few times at BFG and also range. Have kept in touch and like bro TDO he has asked me to join him in Batam but I couldn't make it.
In fact I sent him a msg ytd morning to say that I was sad to hear that a fellow GRian passed away. When he did not reply I feared for the worse. Paul is a very nice chap.

| Perhaps one should attend the wake to pay last respect to him and also send the condolences to the family face-to-face? In my mind, what's the point of posting messages here? Expecting Paul to read and receive the message? Expecting the family members to be part of this forum as well?
It makes me wonder how many will take the action but kudos to those who do. It shows that you care and are a true friend of Paul.

| I just checked the ST obituary. No mention of any wake. If any brothers know, please let us know. Thanks. | |

| Condolences are as much for the ones giving as for the intended receivers ...
A thread like this is an expression of the respect and affection and is a way to "honour the memory" as well as deal with the loss in a healthy way
the last 30 years has seen an evolution in social dynamics with technology supporting the formation of "online communities" (and the pace has increase exponentially in the last decade with advances in mobile comms technology). Society as a whole is trying to translate cultural norms in the physical world into the "virtual world", and while the forms might be similar, the substance often differs slightly.
Perhaps the best way to view this thread is that, while there is an actual physical wake going on in the real world, this can be considered an online version, one for this online community to mourn the loss of one of its members.

| Bro nutty88, it's the thought that counts. To me condolences are sufficient. I share your feelings but we are living in the digital world. If anyone can attend I am sure he/she will attend on his own accord. Some might not be able to attend for a variety of reasons and we should respect it. | |
