I'm thinking to take out my MP52 5 irons which I hit inconsistently with MX or MP series fli hi Mizuno hybrid.... to give me a better 5i distance...

Yeah, I'm also going to remove my 4i and swap it with the MX-700 23˚ hybrid.

Before anyone heeds Cyp_PGA's advice, I want to point out some facts:

1. He's a fantastic golfer - aiming for to clear Q-school.
2. He has a fantastic swing - I've seen him send balls a great distance and with incredible accuracy at the range.

So, hybrids may not be for this golfer (he's just too good) but for the average joes (or sub-average jokers like me), a hybrid may not be a bad club to have in your bag Smile

so i remove it from my bag and from then on. i use irons to hit it out of the rough..

Is a Hybrid useful?
I try to make it ussful.
I got a maruman Shuttle U4 (23*)
When I hit it at the drive rang, the ball when high and straight.
When I try it at the green, ball didn't fly like what happens at the range.
That's quite discouraging. I can do it better with my 5 woods instead.

Maybe it's cause you're hitting it off the green, not the fairway Razz J/kidding, bro Smile

Happens to us all. When we're at the range, there are no obstacles. On the course, it's a different scenario altogether. There are a lot of factors to consider and all of these play on our mind which affects how we play. Also, the position of the ball on the course (which is different from the cushy mat it sits on in the range) affects the swing, ball impact, trajectory etc.

Same here.
Bought so many hybrids, so many brands, and till today I still can't hit.

I personally would prefer a long iron.

Datuk Spinmaster is a pro. His quota of good shots per week is way higher than other golfers. In fact, he had so many good shots from the week before, they carried forward to the week after Wink

Well done, bro Smile Congrats!

Sorry, that went OT. Back on track...

I think as games progress, hybrids will become more dominant in game improvement sets. A good example are the Callaway FT i-Brid irons which look more like hybrids than traditional irons.

(From Golfclubs365.com)

So, perhaps hybrids are not always useful for the better golfers but they are increasingly common (and useful) for the rest.

hybrids are oso replacement for woods... easier to launch for some..

not to forget, u can use it in the rough too....

I'm doing that. I'm replacing my 3iron and 5woods that give roughly the same distance with my MX700 3h.

Hey weaponx, the 2 lofts are rather similar. The 5w would go slightly longer off the tee and fairway, but the 3 hybrid would give you better playability off thicker lies. Personally I use a 2 hybrid of 18° to replace a 2 or a 1iron type shot. Much easier to get it up in the air as compared to them really low irons.

I still keep my Ping G10 (Draw) 4W 17˚ but have 20.5˚ and 23˚ hybrids to take care of what you might consider the 5W, 3i, 4i range.

Theoretically speaking, a 5W replacement is a 2 hybrid or 2 iron. Somewhere around 17 degrees.

Theoretically speaking, I play golf as well as Tiger Woods, am fit as Camilo Villegas and am young as Rory McIlroy. Theoretically speaking... of course.
