Keep a lookout in the market folder, usually have pretty good deal from fellow golfers.

I think you can't go very wrong with Callaway X Hot irons, good price from Golf Direct, and extremely extremely friendly. It's my 5th iron set, and nothing comes as close as to X Hot forgiving me for my misdeeds (mis-swings).

U could consider going to pan west and grab a new set.. New sets are relatively cheap nowadays.. Taylormade have quite a number of good beginner models. Plus they have an interest free installment plan.. Very affordable..

The X-20s are one of the best irons ever produced by Callaway. Very forgiving. Highly recommended.

I bought the Adams irons at GD. Only $229. Got it because it's even cheaper than many 2nd hand sets. From 4-Gap wedge. I believe it's targetted at beginners as it's very very forgiving. They only come in steel though.

Hi
But the Burner is super long at I think 46.5 inches. Not sure it's easy to swing for beginners.

I used TM Burner 2.0 (steel) at the start.  Quite forgiving ... and the market price for Burner 2.0 should be more affordable now.  Met a Pro recently and he strongly recommended me to change to graphite shaft (my initial preference is steel shafts as they are more durable, supposed to be more consistent, relatively cheaper and looks cool for guys, but the Pro said my swing speed is still low so it's better for me use graphite to improve me score), then I changed to Mizuno JPX825 (this is much more expensive) recently.  But anyway I still think TM Burner 2.0 is quite a good buy for beginner based on my experience ...
