Recommendations for Beginner to Intermediate Golf Set Empty
PostSubject: Recommendations for Beginner to Intermediate Golf Set   Recommendations for Beginner to Intermediate Golf Set I_icon_minitimeSun Dec 08, 2013 2:33 pm

Hi all,

Have started picking up the sport and been playing regularly for about 3 months now, but so far have been loaning my coach's clubs so far. Now with a PC and that I am reasonably convinced of my sustained interest in golf, I would like to seek out recommendations on which clubs to go for.

Some thoughts I have, do let me know your views / any specific recommendations on the following:

1) Hoping that my first set of clubs can be reasonably forgiving to a beginner, but can also remain relevant once I continue on as a social intermediate golfer. Read from other threads that Callaway X18, 20, 22 may be possible, along with TM drivers...

2) I am probably going for just a minimalist set of clubs, i.e. a driver, 7i, sand wedge and putter, as recommended by a few others I spoke to

Any second-hand clubs to let off, do let me know as well. Thks:)

Actually, I have a set of x20 on NS PRO regular shaft.
3-SW which I thought of letting go.
Let me know if you are keen.

You can consider the JPX series of irons from Mizuno. They are pretty forgiving. I think got some forumers selling their 800 irons here. If you want new, can try GH now having sales on. I just bought myself the EZ irons.

Also GH at Paragon has a Trackman that you can test out their clubs. You can get your clubs fitted too free if you buy from them.

I think that's not a trackman.

Oops, really? Pardon my ignorance as newbie in golf. But the equipment does track flight path and distance for hits.

Not sure what's system they used, look more like flightscope. I went once before with a friend quite sure it's not trackman.

IMHO, the type of fitting gh offer many here also can offer. No big deal.

Think as a beginner u will need more than the above... maybe if u r an advanced player u can go for a minimalist set of clubs as prescribed above...

Most beginner set incl at least irons ranging from 5-P... then u will need at least another wedge like an S or 56 degrees and a putter.. for longer clubs some make do with a driver and maybe a 3 and 4 hybrid (for longer distances beyond the iron5 on the fairway - also hybrids supposedly r easier to handle tho some may disagree)  and put off the even longer fairwood woods till they are more proficient in their swing...

Recently they collaborated with a Raymond from Trade Hub 21 to do fitting on Epons and Miura irons ... Not sure if they would include Mizuno irons in the menu ... Raymond is a qualified fitter as far as I know ...

Raymond is ok, but it's abt the sales in gh not abt the fitter capability. The sales in gh usually noe nothing abt this.

Oh not sure what is type of standard fitting, but the staff there at GH was pleasant and patient. He let me tried several irons, and test on flight path, dispersion and distance, besides static measurment. In the end, my irons have to be shorten as I am quite short. He was also helpful and let me try some drivers too. I spent close to 2 hours there. Quite a different experience from another GRian who was not as well received at GH Suntec.

I'm very new in golf also, am using the Rocketbladez irons, pretty forgiving, R1 driver with project X shaft, RBZ Stage II 4H, also a 60 wedge and a TM putter.

i would say most Taylormade and callaway stuffs are pretty forgiving, u may wanna consider the burner set as i really find them very forgiving..
