Beginner Irons: recommendations

Hey guys, i'm looking to get a set of irons that are super forgiving for a 1 month old golfer. preferably like regular shaft. any recommendations? preferably 2nd hand set would be fine.

lol but dont know which to get leh. like i know probably not to get tour versions. and not to use stiff as a beginner. idk if like a 2009 club is worst off than a 2011? if both same price shd i get the 2011? been trying to google the clubs and see if its forgiving but sometimes the reviews contradict....

think those with larger faces are more forgiving.. got a 2nd hand set of taylormade burners and pretty happy with them. i reckon you shouldn't buy classic sets as well cuz tech of those would be less forgiving.

actually my friend has a set of TM burner 2.0 but the shafts are stiff! so its really heavy to use. unless i shd buy a set of regular shafts from market place and change...??? i saw one set earlier for like 100 i think. project x 5.0 i think. need check again.

PX5.0??? what shaft are u using now??? if u using graphite j spec stiff, i would not recommend PX next.

NS pro 950s??? if u looking for softer you should be looking at 850R or 950R even true temper GS85 R300, may even consider graphite. PX5.0 although it's regular, if i'm not wrong it around 110g in wt and it's a lot stiffer than most japanese steel shaft.

If NSpro is stiff for you, you might want to use a graphite shaft instead.

KBS is American shaft

So KBS regular = asian stiff? like more stiff than NSPro? Well my coach told me to change to regular. Cos I just started. Graphite stiff = steel regular? or how does that work lol

How young/old or strong are you?
My uninformed suggestion is to not worry about the shaft stiffness. If you are young( <45yr) , just play stiff, you'll swing/hit harder as you practice more and gain confidence. Swing freely and uninhibited; you're body will learn how to react accordingly:albino:

If you are young, NS Pro 950R is ok for you. I had a set of Callaway X18 with 950R and it suit me when I just started golfing.

Callaway x18/ 20/ 22 irons are great to start with, very forgiving and should last quite a while until your next upgrade.

Heard good things about the TM Burner and Adams irons too but never tried them.

NSPro 950 R-flex does sound like the ticket for you based on what you are saying, though part of why it feels "heavy" might have to do with the swingweight of the club not just its total weight.

I couldnt really tell the diff actually like how stiff it is. but when i tried the regular flex it felt so much easier to hit. ive been using TM burner 2.0 but stiff shafts. but really considering other options cos of the shaft. i mean it would be expensive to change the shaft right? saw a cobra s3 or a MX300 in market place or even like adams cb3. which is more forgiving huh?

I would say cobra S3 more forgiving. If u tried r flex and you felt easier to play then change to r flex lor. How much for changing shafts you had to visit a club fitter. Cheaper alternative is to get second hand shafts lor.

Different shafts, different structure so different feed back, depending which one you like.

NS Pro, KBS, PX, PXi and True Temper all different brands.

Depends on what shaft you getting. Is Brand New or pull out shaft. Anyway, I tried S3 once and I dun like the feel. Still prefer my TS irons.

If u already using burner version 2.0, why u wanna change? just for the shaft? then why don't u ask any brothers here wanna swap?

Yea managed to try 7 iron burner 2.0 in stiff and regular. regular feels more shiok to hit.
