hi.. i've been learning golf for 2 months, looking to get a set of my own, preferably a 2nd hand set, or a decent beginner's set (in case i don't get better with time and lose interest!). been popping into golf house, pan west etc, and bombarded with so many different brands! mizuno, maruman, maxfli, golden bear, powerbilt etc..!

can i get some advice on how to go about picking the right golf set pls? and where to get them, if im looking for a 2nd hand set? many thanks!

Hi,

Welcome here!

Did your pro give u any recommendations?

Generally, I would ask are you into the game for the long run.

If so, I would suggest you get fitted for a half set 1st. It is not expensive and it will benefit you tremendously to start simple. Thats what my wife did.

3wd
hybrid
7i
9i
PW
SW
Putter

Once you are hooked onto the game, getting a branded set will definitely be on your mind and most ppl will definitely look at new drivers 1st. Take your time on this as the choices are almost endless.

There are a few clubfitters in Sg you can try. DGman who is the boss of Big Fish Golf is very active here so he might be able to give you a few pointers.

Hi there, welcome!

Other than getting fitted for a half set, you may also keep a look out here for 2nd hand sets at pretty good prices.

Have fun, club hunting!

thanks for the replies =) i was considering the maruman (verity?) set selling for $650 at taka and isetan, but the sales person told me that the driver is way too small? is it the case in golf to go from oversized clubs to regular clubs as you become more experienced?

Slazenger. Personally, I think for beginners set, brand doesn't really matter. Just get something affordable and whack whack whack Razz

Love my shiny new purple/pink slazenger clubs! I'm hitting the same distances as with my instructor's mizuno clubs, so it's probably a good thing I bought a cheaper set Smile

I would always recommend Mizuno Efil being a Mizuno fan, just for the records! Smile

sorry for outdated info but my gf also targeted that set (Mzzy Efil) and price before the recent golf house 'sale' was around $1000. not cheap sia... but according to my gf, the feel's pretty gd (in terms of swing wt)...

hope this info is at least a bit helpful.. heh
