PostSubject: Ideal ladies beginner set   Ideal ladies beginner set I_icon_minitimeWed Jul 28, 2010 10:19 am

Hi,
Am looking for a ladies set for my girlfriend to get started. As I am not very familiar with ladies sets, was wondering if there are any ladies golfers here that can recommend a good set to get started.
When I started, I bought a set of irons to practice then added to the inventory when I am ready. Am aware that there are pros and cons of buying a cheap full set versus a good set of irons to start at the range.

Hoping for some advice on the choices available for ladies.
Also, am open to used ladies sets if you have for offer.

Thanks.

Bro freezyool mind if I ride on your thread instead of cluttering up the forum with another somewhat similar one?

I'm trying to find get my girlfriend interested in going to the range together with me (she's not keen to take lessons, but more to spend time with me at the range). Hence we were thinking to just get a 7-iron for her. Problem is she is very petite at just under 1.5m.

Any recommendations? Would a junior set (being rather cheap for an entire set) be usable? Thanks

Sure navik, guess we both got a common goal. haha...

Poison, the other half so we don't need to apply "visas" the next time round.

Hi freezyool.. may I ask if your gf is the petite type? Or slightly taller and sportier than most ladies (no offence here).

I'm just asking cos if she was taller.. say 170m plus, I would suggest men's clubs --this is from my own experience. I have a ladies set but realised that I actually should be using men's cos of my height and build...

If not... as far as I know, mauruman is prob one of the best selection since it is affordable and also 'user-friendly'... esp if you guys still don't know if she is really that into the sport. It usually comes in a full set which should get her started and then you can build on it if she feels that she wants to continue with this sport. --- in this sense, it is pretty much the same as you boys. =)...

Navik:.... she can prob just use the ladies set as they are shorter than men's clubs anyways. still cannot then just choke down. Junior are way too short. ...

Give you advice: entice them with pretty stuff. haha... =) Cute head covers, chio bags bla bla bla...plus they will get to spend the day with you. Romantic hohz.

Thanks Joleelyn and Wilkang,

I have come across the maruman at suntec. Tot bout it too. Yeah, I agree with you that must entice them with cute kawaii stuff on the golf set, though sometimes, I feel diabetic just looking at 'em... lol...

Thanks anyway for the advice and link, will review them to decide. Smile

Haha, as a course marshal, I thought you would have realised that long ago... I mean look at the PGA pros, they are walking around with hundreds if not thousands of dollars strapped on their body, not counting their clubs... lol...

what to do... if not change to soccer or basketball lo... cheaper alternative.... still a ball... Smile

my wife is upgrading her kasco set. Comes with Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 4 Utility, 7 Utility, and the rest are irons. Putter also included with upgraded grip.
Comes with a lovely pink bag. Most of the clubs still in the wrapper cuz she got separate Taylormade woods.

The model is KAsco Dimpals 2. Can check it up online. but it looks somewhat like the picture below :

joleelyn: Thanks for the advise, don't think I need to entice her much with the cute stuff, she's already asking if there's a tigger or piglet head cover pale

Dear Ladies,

I believe the Maruman FINO Ladies is a pretty good set for the ladies to start off with... Smile

Perhaps you can also consider Mizuno Efil or Opti. Full set with driver, woods, irons and putter. I think Efil also has a hybrid.

Yup yup ... that's one question on my mind.

And is there a difference as to how you 'hit' with an iron vs a hybrid? pig

I find no difference in the way I try to swing the clubs. the only difference is the length of the club.

The invention of the Hybrid Clubs are meant to aid golfers in getting their golf balls out of the rough with a better contact of the golf ball. Many times, when one hits from the rough with the conventional iron, there is a tendency that the club head might be caught in the rough, and thus resulting in a less than ideal hit out of the rough. Whereas the hybrid is designed to fix this problem and should be able to assist in getting the ball out of the rough with its design.

Having said that, it doesn't mean that you should not use the hybrid on the fairways. In fact, if you want distance, a hybrid off the fairway can give you amazing distance. If you notice, many pros these days carry hybrids as a replacement for longer irons, like #3, cos its definitely easier to use a hybrid compared to a long iron!

Hope this helps.... bounce bounce

I hit the hybrid the exact same way as I hit my irons and take a divot. Given the same loft on the iron and hybrid, my hybrid goes further as well.
