poresia golf club

hi all,
sorry I am new to GR. Has anyone played at Poresia recently? I am planning a golf trip for my colleagues in the afternoon so figure that Poresia is the nearest to us.

BTW does the club require all the golfers to have PC or handicap? Some of my colleagues don't have...

Yes.. need PC or handicap.. else they make you pay RM50 for the 'handicap test'..

maybe my experience is different...so far played at poresia since last year till late... they never ask to show anything except ask me for mode of payment :-)

in fact you can go to their website.. there is a singapore telephone number which you can book your flight time, payment still done over counter. Quite convenient.

the old buggy has been replaced with new ones

course is playable unless its been raining the day before

simple no frills course :-)

Only Sat, Sun and P.H, they will require to produce PC or Handicap. So far, did not check on weekdays.

Being guest and play Poresia you have a Japanese lunch to go with it.
Green fee Rm127.00 inclusive of tax.
New electric buggy so much better than the old diesel ~ smelly.
Weekday no need Handicap card. Only weekend HCP required.
Green fairway has improved a lot due to recent rain.

Club house still the same old house!
Reception area friendly.

Played there few months ago. I would say that you have to keep it in fairway, as the rough is thick, even that you saw you balls landed at that direction, still need to take time to search else will be lost balls.

If you are a beginner, you might not appreciated playing this tight and thick rough courses.

Ai Yah, few month ago now the rough has been levelled,
I play there every week.. now they only open 2 course the
other 2 course alway under maintenance, grass cutting
etc..

In one to two years time they will closed Hibiscus, so left with
3 course Sakura, Orchid and Bonganvilla. Back to the original 27 holes
when I first join Poresia in 1999 for $5k afternoon membership. Now membership maybe around $1800.00 with one year free subscription.

There is no afternoon and morning membership now. Will be a full membership.

Price is around S$5K with spouse. Subscription is about S$500.00 per year.

Dont bother going there. Shitty club house, slow greens, overpriced. For the price, you are better playing elsewhere.

Thanks Khorkar for the update. Was just thinking of trying out Poresia after yesterday's game at Horizon Hill. Will give it a miss.

Despite some claims of the course being not well maintained (which I must agree to a certain), members are satisfied with the current condition. Guests may not find it to their liking because of the higher green fees. We members have been trying to get the Management to reduce the green fees for weekends. So far there is no feedback.

But all in all, personally I am quite satisfied with the course. Don't bother looking at the facilities though if you don't use it. Members usually golf, bathe and disappear. We don't hang around the clubhouse, which is bare. Our sole purpose if golf, golf and more golf. And it is the nearest to Singapore. That's the strong selling point. So it's a no frills club.

hm.. between poresia and cempaka.. which is tougher?

Personally, I am not sure as I have not played Cempaka for at least 10 years. But if you want challenge, play the Old Course (Sakura/Orchid) during weekdays off the Blue tee. It will definitely be tougher and challenging.
