Legends Golf Johor - DO NOT VISIT!!!

Hi Gingerus I think you have got it wrong.....legend buggy is all battery powered......the one still using fuel powered is Palm Resort and Orchard from what I know of.....I play in Legend almost every weekend for the last 2 yrs I have never have a fuel powered buggy before....an advise to anyone wish to play Legend again is that you can always request to change your buggy if you are not happy before you tee-off......because you need to drive a short distance to the Tee- Box and if you have find any problem with the buggy you can always drive back and have it change. I have done that before and the caddy master always gladly do so....remember be happy and you will play better

I disagree on this. There should be some minimum service standard even if the price is cheaper. Especially this is a safety issue.

I don't think u can claim insurance for 4 person sharing a buggy if u got into accident

Well I also don't want this but the sky turning dark because, either u wanna wait in the middle of nowhere for another half an hour or so or bear with it. This is Austin, anyone played there should know in the past there's one stretch on holes surrounding you is nothing but jungle and back then the reception was rather poor. So bo bian we had to do this even so when the buggy going up slope, the other 2 golfers had to get out and walk up the slope because the other buggy also almost flat. Lucky we got back around 1930 at night. I sure do not wanna be in jungle when it's turn dark.

Played this morning at Legends Palm & Hill course. Thanks to feedback given, I did a check on the assigned buggy. Condition was passable. Steering was a bit loose and brakes not that effective but good enough to take us around the course and was careful not to speed and when driving down slopes. Wanted to repair divot holes but the sand bottle in the buggy was empty. They should have at least fill it up before releasing the buggy. Also, most bunkers did  not haverakes and the only one that I came across at one bunker had half its "teeth" missing.

Palm course fairways particularly the beginning portion were rather bumpy and took a heavy toll on the buggy. Nearer to the greens, conditions were better. Hills course was in much better shape with good greens & fairways. Course was relatively quiet in the morning due to commencement of fasting month. I fear if the management does not take corrective actions, this golf course will soon be a "past legend"

After reading this thread, I took extra caution and inspect the buggy before teeing off. I agreed that the brakes were not working properly. Just had to step harder.

I was more disappointed with the maintenance of the course. Overall, it was still acceptable for me. I didn't have high expectation when I play in Johor considering the green fees I paid.

Anyone encountered the waste bunkers at Legends? Is there a tactic to get out of these? i.e. hit it like irons to let it bounce off the ground? or hit it like sand, impact before the ball to push it out? or slice it underneath, margin for error seems very slim for this option.

I was spending a lot of time trying to recover from these bunkers on my previous game. So I thought I should tap on the pool of knowledgeable and experienced in these forum.

Not sure if that term is correct, just happen to see the label on the verge of the bunker. It bunker without any fine/fluffy sand, just chunks of mud/sand. A bit like the chocolate softee, swirl design(not the softness).

Bro, waste bunkers normally stated in the local rules behind the score card usually these got some plants growing in them, i remember  puteri c got a par 3 got it as well those you can ground the clubs and test the ground also. If not stated then had to be taken as bunkers lor.

Anyway, I wonder how many people really flip over the score card and read at the local rules, sometimes it can help u reduce score.

Social game I doubt many bother to check the back of the scorecard until the situation warrants it.

if you look up Dustin Johnson, you will see that he lost a US open because he grounded his club in what he thought was a waste bunker but local rules said no grounding.

Anyway, social game is for having fun so no big deal unless you have a very picky opponent

Agree with the hard fairway and bunker since its now the dry season ~ just takes a fair bit more of focus and accurancy to get the ball on its way. In a couple of months it will be monsoon season and the complain would be that the ground will be muddy and soggy.... If we have been golfing long enough, all these conditions are expected since day 1 granted the rates we're getting for promo packages these days ~ pay peanuts and you get monkeys.....

On the flip side of the coin, boy are we a difficult bunch of customers to please......

Agreed.... Been golfing there quite abit in the past, Course is ok except Palm course which is ably maintained. Having said that, it a decent course to play in JB... how many golf course ib JB is well maintained? Maybe Horizons hill....

Anyway, if they are willing to change the buggy or even refund the game, I feel they had done their part...

just played there(water and palm) and got 80 as greens are quite decent. only pay rm50 on weekend if using cimb card.

Was there yesterday and the buggies have been replaced with newer ones. Not new, but newer ones like this -



They're in much better condition, driveability is still an issue though.

The parking brake did not engage and the steering wheel was heavy and difficult to turn for one buggy I had, and there were power issues with another.

After two changes, I got a perfectly functioning buggy.

So do remember to check the working condition of your buggy still on the way to the first tee.

Just went, quite nice to note that I didn't come across those waste bunkers this time. The bunkers now like quite soft, not ultra fine sand but I think its quite a good improvement.

Buggy wise, the brakes are good. Accidentally stepping too hard will burn rubber.

Overall, I find the service of the staff + maintenance of the fairways/bunkers/green is more then what I would expect for the price they are charging.

Looking forward to have another game there. Thumbs up for the management for the improvements.

bringing up this old thread, how is the course now after 3 months from the last post?
just received a last minute invitation to play at the legends, duno whether play at legends,
or indah puri 2 weeks later.
