Paintfilling irons

Hi there,
I am unable to see the pictures in the sticky on paintfilling, http://www.golfrepublic.org/t734-how-to-change-colors-or-touch-up-paint-fill-on-golf-clubs

Can other see the pictures or is it just me? I would like to touch up my irons so want to see how it is done first.

Quite interested in paint filling my irons too ! But likewise , I can't seem to view the pictures.

Can someone with experience pls share how to paint fill irons pls.

u can use nail polish remover to remove the existing paint then paint with the colour you fancy.

If the original is light colour, u may be able to just paint over it with removing

This is my standby set, paint filled it myself and fitted with ferrules which I shipped over from the states.

First up, list of equipment which I used;

1) Thinner
2) Tamiya Paint
3) Wooden skewer, or satay sticks, tooth picks might do the trick as well.
4) Safety pin or something pointed and hard.
5) Cloth or cotton buds

Here is my process,

Soak the current black paint fill with thinner for awhile to dissolve it then remove it by scrapping, using the safety pin or anything sharp and pointy to reach the small corners.

Use the tamiya paint of your choice, with the wooden skewer, pick up the paint with the pointy end and start filling the numbers, logo or letters. Don't worry about it coming out of the supposed area, cleaning up is easy.

There are 3 types of tamiya paint, glossy, matt and translucent. I will recommend either matt or glossy as translucent paint does not really stand out on metal. You can get these at any hobby kit store or if you happen to be in Paya Lebar, stop by this place called Stargek, it's like the main store or something. Take note, they are opened office hours only. It cost about a couple of bucks for a small bottle of paint, which will last like forever, get a bottle of thinner as well, for cleaning up and also adding to the paint when it thickens.

Wait for the paint to dry, the spilled over paint outside the desired area usually dries faster, there are two ways to remove them. First by using a cotton bud, cloth or something similar, soak in thinner and wipe it off, or just scrap it off using your finger nails. I choose the method depending on the area I am cleaning up. You will figure out which is better to use in each situation. Leave dry and there you have it.

From my experience, removing the current black paint fill is the most tedious. The rest of the process is relatively easy. you might have to redo if you messed up the paint fill while cleaning the surrounding area but you will get better as you go along.

The hardest part to paint fill for the above project is the Ikasu LOGO on the limited wedges. The logo is big, hence it takes some effort to fill it evenly, without "waves". I put in enough paint and set the wedges, face down on the table top, overnight for the paint to dry first.

This time, I didn't remove the original black paint fill.
Wanted to see the difference, and it seems the matt and glossy paint is covering well.

The lime green is matt and red is glossy.

Have fun and don't be afraid to experiment as you can always remove the paint and redo again.

DKing, wow yr clubs are nicely match with the colors anf finishing. Good workmanship Hmmm....now Im toying the idea, maybe I should also do it for fun for my son's clubs.

Any ideas on where I can buy the Tamiya paints and thinners in the west?
