| frequently use 5w in the past but changed to 21deg Hybrid. Feel more comfortable hitting with 21deg Hybrid. Buying a 3w soon!!! Usually use off the tee... | |

| I have a 3W but i never ever practice with it, coz i just can't seem to hit it off the mat.
Use it on the course maybe twice per 18 holes.

| think some of the so call "new age" golfers doesnt use wood any more. most of them replace them with hybrids...like AK...who only has a 2 hybrid, no wood. anywaz the shaft of a 3 hybrid is even shorter than a 7 wood...so technically should be "easier" to hit. and it should be able to give you anything from 170m to 200m...depending on your nei gong... just my 1 cent contribution... | |

| Use my Sonartec 3 wood NP99 15 deg (Graman UL540 shaft) for tee-off & off good lies / Hybrid Cleveland Halo 19 deg (UST V2 hybrid shaft) for all other shots from rough & fairway bunkers
Wanted to buy the Sonartec GS Tour 3 wood but then GN closed & all clubs went into 'cold storage'

| I am still carrying a 3, 5 and 7 wood in my bag. Don't remember when was the last time i took out the 3 . Meddled with a couple of hybrids some time back in a bid to 'follow the trend' and perhaps drop my 7... but somehow unsuccessful. Still love my lucky 7 and it will stay in my bag for a while more. | |

| I carry a 3+ and 5 FW in my bag. I need the 3+ FW to try to achieve 2 On for long PAR 5 hole. I need the 5 FW for tight fairway. | |

also have seen someone hitting driver on the fairway... dunno how he do it also... If I didn't see wrongly, Daniel Chopra hit from fairway using his driver at the last hole @BSO to have eagle chance.... It is not very difficult if the fairway is flat. Just do a sweeping swing like a 3 FW.

Also got to see if the driver is deep face or shallow face mah, since shallow face got lower CG. Now here's another question. Who sweeps the fairway woods and who hits with a slight descending blow to pinch the ball off the fairway? I find a slight descending blow seems to give me at least, better contact, distance and trajectory, if I don't top or duff the ball, lol.

| swings are very subjective and personal.
there are people who just hits it better with irons and some people just blast it down straight and long with woods.
so what works for you, might not work for others.
For me, i use a sweeping stroke for my woods...

| Very true, different strokes for different folks!
Good with irons usually not so good with woods and vice versa.
I try sweeping last time, practise in the house with a broom, all the dust fly. Took the swing to the course and all the grass fly!!!!

| Birdman,
I would normally execute the 5 FW with a slight decending swing hereby creating a slight divort as a result. My 3 FW also creates a slight divort but the divort is even lighter than when I did it with a 5 FW.
It definitely helps if your driver has a shallow face if one wants to hit it from the deck. 8)

| Interesting, cos the Nicklaus way was to sweep, but now I've increasingly seen instruction that advocates the slight descending blow. I'll stay away from the driver off the deck, thank you very much. First, no swing speed, second, I can barely get my 3 wood off the ground. I should be playing in texas. | |

| I get a draw by taking it back low & 'sweep' (a bad hook when I bring it too much inside during the back swing), and get a cut when I hit down with a slight 'descending blow' | |

| If I want the ball to fly higher and land softer, I try to do a descending blow. If I want to ball to land and run more, I try to do a sweeping action.
Ya, right.. who am I kidding, I just try to let the clubhead make contact with the ball.. hahaha
