| Hi all, a bro and I are planning to play in KL end of June. But not familiar with the courses in KL. Any recommendations for courses to play on? We are both playing 95 or so. So nothing to tough and will allow foreigners to walk in would be ideal. We are staying in bukit bintang area. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

| Try Kelab Golf Perkhdimatan Awan (Civil Service Golf Club). Nice golf club and reasonable walk-in rates. | |

What are walk in rates for that course, I thought it was members only? im not really sure on that bro. Also i was just browsing my Standard Chartered credit card booklet, there is complimentary golf at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, Kuala Lumpur. Free Golf. Complimentary green fees. If you dont have an SCB card them im sure other credit card would have similar deals.

| Glenmarie Golf & Country Club
Members of Seletar, Orchid or RafflesCC only need to pay for buggy and caddy

What are walk in rates for that course, I thought it was members only? KLGC and Saujana are 2 different courses. KLGC is located in Mont Kiara area, nearer to KL city. Saujana is in Subang, near the old Subang Airport - 36 holes (palm and hibiscus)

| Thanks for all the input. based on the map looks like KLGCC is the closest. Maybe can try it out. Seems expensive though. | |

| Two of you, playing around 95, here are my comments, purely subjective.
KGPA is not bad, cow grass, alllows walk-in of non-members, 2-player is ok. Very decent rates.
KLGCC, a challenge for those shooting 95, one course is narrow, the other course is super tough. Club is members-only, not for walk-in. Also, one of the priciest.
Saujana, there's two. One is Hyatt Saujana, near Subang. The other is Saujana Imprian, near Kajang, a bit further away.
Hyatt Saujana is not easy, and pricey for non-members. Saujana Impian is my current favourite course, decent rates, accepts non-members, 2-player is ok except Fri, Sat and Sun. Not an easy course, narrow, but go with the right expectation, play at a decent pace and you'll be ok. But a distance away from KL.
Glenmarie is decent, 2-courses, but requires a member to sign you in. Valley is scenic and challenging, full of (of course) valleys, water, slopes, galore. Beautiful. Garden is flatter and friendlier for beginners. A bit pricey for non-members.
Kota Permai, good course. Super fast greens. Pricey for non-members. Hard to get tee times because the course is crowded. But worth playing if you can get in.
Bangi Equatorial, short course, decent enough for the modest price, also a distance away from KL but mostly highway.
Kinrara, good for beginners in that they don't care what you do on the course. Stay out of the bunkers unless you are fed up with your irons and looking for a reason to buy a new set. Fairway plugs on rainy days. A par 4 converted to a par 3 because of bungalow complaints.
In terms of pricing and minimal travelling, and if you don't mind cow grass, KGPA is a good choice.
In terms of value for money if you don't mind a bit of travelling, Saujana Impian (Kajang) is my choice.
Further down past Subang, you have Monterez, a cheap and cheerful short but twisty course, many doglegs and trees and water to make up for its lack of length. Not bad also, esp for 95 shooters. Walk-in welcome.
Off the top of my head, that's about it.
Cheers. | |

| Played up in KL for the first time 2 weeks ago...
(All weekday rounds, played from blue tees, handi = 12.5)...
- Kota Permai: Nice track in very good condition, it's fair and reasonable. A bit on the pricier side for KL (paid 230RM) but worth the green fee in my opinion. Greens were very fast (they claimed 9.5 but felt like 10.5+). - Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam KGPA (Hills-Lakes): Not bad for a public course, they have 27 holes. It's in Damansara, so relatively accessible if you are staying near KL Sentral or City Centre. It's literally connected to KLGCC, but entrance is on the other side. Very hilly course with uneven lies, even if you find the fairway. A couple of the holes were undergoing construction and there was one temporary green but, overall, a good experience for the price (paid 175RM). - KLGCC (West): Fantastic course but extremely challenging. If you miss the fairway, forget about it because you probably won't find your ball in the rough but, if you do, you'll be lucky to see the very top of it. Any time I missed the fairway (which was often), I prayed for the ball to be in the bunker, so at least no penalty assessed. Unless you are very accurate with your tee shots, or know how to play balls out of deep rough, this course is VERY HUMBLING. Once you get to the green, it's still humbling as the greens are undulating and very fast. Expensive (387RM) but one of the top courses in KL.
Hope this helps!

| Hi all, do any of these courses allow walk-ins on Saturday? Unlikely we can just walk into the member courses like Saujana, Glenmarie etc right? Tried calling Amex card and CIMB card, all not helpful... | |
