The stat that caught my eye was this:

Of the 6 times that he started the year by winning in this tournament, he goes on to win a major 5 of those times.

Of course, day 4 is still only partially through, but I am licking my chops in anticipation for the year already.

Further, if he wins here tomorrow, and that's a small if, then he would have won the same tournament on the same course 7 times, which is itself a new record.

There is also stats that prove otherwise.
Whatever it is; hope he will break the jinx and get off to a good start for the season. Really want to see him keep winning and past Jack's major record.

Thanks for the interesting contribution.

The stat is, in the 6 times that he's won Farmers, 5 of those time he has gone on to win a major. The stat is self explanatory.

About his odds of winning tomorrow, lets see what the bookmakers say, ie. people study all latest available info and to put money on the line for the outcome. Not to encourage gambling by any means, but from this we can see what the market thinks about the probabilities.

Tiger odds, a survey of the online bookmakers:
1/25
1/33
3/100
1/80
1/100
1/100
1/100
1/100
1/200
1/200
1/200

Sum it up, 13/1238, or 1/95.23077

So someone betting Tiger will not win tomorrow, will have to put average $95.23 in order to win $1.

Still possible, anything is possible certainly, but the most up-to-date odds are shall we say, not in favour.

Yup, this is probably by far the closest he has ever gotten ever since his slump.

No more weekend meltdown i hope.

When Tiger starts the year strong by winning Farmers, it augurs well for his major result.

Go to the 14 min mark and enjoy the treat of watching Tiger work his magic.

In the rough, a tree preventing any high cut shot, he escaped with a shot you did not think was possible, and chipped in after that for a birdie.

Next, go to the 14:47 mark and see how he cuts a 5 wood curving fade shot from a deep rough, a difficult shot considering how deep the rough was; and look at the shape of the resulting ball flight as it curved way left to right toward the green

Another view of that incredible low cut from under the tree, slow motion. Feherty says it broke HIS left elbow watching it.

Even the paragliders were clapping when the chip went in.

With 7 holes left to play, Tiger now leads by 7, no new birdies, the chasing competitor fell 1 back.

Snedeker finished at -10. Watney -10 at hole 13.

1 4 Tiger Woods (SC) -17 11 -3 next info 68 65 69 202
T2 7 6 Brandt Snedeker (SC) -10 F -3 color info 65 75 69 69 278
T2 2 9 Jimmy Walker (SC) -10 13 -2 color info 67 69 72 208
T2 2 11 Nick Watney (SC) -10 13 -2 color info 69 68 71 208

Jimmy Walker and Watney has 5 holes left to make up the 7-shot gap to Tiger with 7 holes left.

So, safe to say it looks like Tiger's tournament unless a paraglider falls on him or something like that.

Tiger hooked it twice off the tee on the first two holes which explains the driving accuracy of only 33.33%. With GIR of only 50%, yet playing -3 for the day, it seems to indicate his scrambling and short game are coming back.

A fellow early bird, good morning.

There just isn't any pressure to threaten his composure. He is 7 shots ahead, 6 holes to play.

He is playing to break his own record, which is winning by 8 shots in this tournament in 2005, which is looking likely the way he is playing now.

Hole 13 par 5, Tiger on the green in 2 with 52 ft for eagle.

The way he is hitting fairways and greens, and short game firing well, this game is pretty much in the bag, and pundits are looking forward to his major chances.

Less than 4 ft left for birdie putt.

Hole 15, Tiger hooks the tee shot, takes a penalty stroke for an unplayable lie, 3rd shot just short of the green. Looks like he will bogey again.

Check that, he just double bogeyed.

Tiger just short of the green at the par 3 hole 16.

Would be interesting what Tiger does with the tee shot at holes 17 and 18, after that hook on 15.
