| Can I replace my 3 & 4 irons with just a 4 Hybrid or should I go for 3H and 4H each, basically one to one replacement from iron to hybrids? | |

| I think it really depends on the lofts of your irons relative to your woods in conjunction with your ability to hit full or less than full shots.
I am a big proponent of hybrids replacing long irons. They are far easier to hit and tend to be much more forgiving.
Essentially you want to cover all your gaps as best you can. Also since most strokes in golf are lost from 100 and in, eliminating two long irons with 1 hybrid would allow you to carry another wedge to help potentially improve your shot game gaps/coverage.

| Advise you to try the hybrids first to determine the distance gaps to cover. The hybrids these days are stronger in loft & have longer shafts, so a direct replacement based on the stated hybrid no. may not be the correct one.
For example, my longest iron is the 5i. I use the TM R11 rescue 4 which is 21.5deg. This is about a traditional 3i loft. Going to the rescue 3 would be 18deg and this will create too big a distance gap to my 5i and to close a gap to my next higher club, which happens to be the 4wd.

| Forgot to add that I use the rescue 4 to cover the 3i distance & if I need to hit a 4i distance, I choke down a bit.
I hate to carry too many clubs (12 in bag), & so make my bag as light as possible.

For me i use a 3H to cover the distance for 3I and 4I, as I can cover the distance with just 1 club, its like a 2 in 1 thing for me.

| I've taken this to a different level by even replacing my 5i with a 5hybrid
Just wanna make the game easier and have more scoring opportunities than to hop or duff a 5i
I would say, Do it, Do it, Do it... Go ahead replace your 3&4i...

| Anyone tried CLEVELAND Launcher DST Hybrid? I noticed TM hybrids seemed pretty popular here.....bcos due to ease of use, distance, etc? | |

| Jason: i did, i added a 4H 23'. It gave a good gap between my 5w 19, and my 5i (i think is 26 or 27'). Realized didnt need a 3H after that. Hope it helps

| All my hybrids are Clevelands. I think the DSTs are good, but I prefer the model before, i.e. the Cleveland Launcher hybrids. Good hybrids, easy to use and launch. | |

... I was going through the loose clubs at Golf Bargains Suntec and found a Callie Razr X 5H (27*)... which I now use instead of my 25* 5i. If I found a 6H from that series I'd probably buy it as well .

PocketAce, I'm like you. 3H - 5H, 6i - 9i. This works better for me but sucks when I want to buy new irons.

and you use a different set of wedges right? so technically you only need 4 pieces iron set Yup, I don't use the wedges which come with the irons. So, yes, I only need the 6i-9i. Sucks.

Hi Bro,
The model before was referring to Mashie series? Apologies for not being clear. I was referring to the model before the DSTs, i.e. the Cleveland Launcher 2009 hybrid. (Photo from Golf.com)

| Yeah i was choosing between the launcher hybrid the one Technospaz suggested (1 version older) vs Mizuno's CLK. Both felt easy to hit for me. Chose CLK purely on cheaper price. | |

| Agree that Cleveland make good hybrids. I was in love with their first model, the Halo and at one stage had 4 of them, 1i - 5i, only missing the 4i. The stock shafts were also very good, so they served me really well. They were also extremely forgiving and durable.
Switched brands on impulse and somehow the love faded thereafter. That's the thing about new toys. Till now, I still think about them once in a while.
