There was once. At orchard boulevard, behind takashimaya

There was a lexus suv. RX300 then. He was driving behind a motorcycle.

The motorcycle suddenly jammed brake and swerve into the pavement next to takashimaya where all the motorbikes like to park

The driver of the lexus, in order to avoid hitting the bike, swerve the other direction. Lost control of his car. Car made 3 full spins and smashed into a traffic light lamp post

2 jap ladies standing near the traffic light was left in shock. The lexus almost hit them

The motorbike rider simply park, got off his bike and walk away.

I was watching this from my car all the while

I think in such situation, the Lexus driver will still be penalized albeit he may not be entirely at fault because he was not supposed 2 tail-gate ... if he is driving at 60kmh (speed limit for that road), he would be able to avoid the accident and brake in time ... And, he should be alert at all time while on the road.

TP has got their job to do and how they do it is up to them....but of course i believe it would be within the constraints of the law.

On our part, when we get our driving license, it is our responsibility to upkeep the etiquette and rules of the road.

Sometimes when we see cheongster speeding...TP no where to be seen. We speed abit only...."Cop on Top"

It's all about being at the wrong place at the wrong time...bo pian.

I can understand the frustration of getting a ticket the way bro andrew got. But take it easy la bro.... take it like as if we kena fine for all the other times we are speeding. Laughing

Have a good weekend and happy holidays. Drive safe everyone! cheers

With the countless accidents on the roads and the reckless driving by many, I welcome any and all actions taken by the police to curb speeding drivers. I'm not sympathetic to anyone who is caught speeding and driving in a dangerous fashion. Trying to save yourself 5 minutes may mean putting at risk the lives of others. And, it is often the case that the reckless driver is spared the wrath of the accident while the innocent ones end up in the hospital or worse.

And, audi, yours is not a record to be proud of.

Your actually angry with the traffic police for entrapping you ?

If you want to talk about playing fair and having integrity. Why not everytime you speed or break the law you go and own up at the police station .

Maybe then you ll have the right to tell the traffic police to let you know when and where they are going to be positioned

Bloody heartlander mentality.

Hope it helps Smile HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!

as usual an entertaining thread and a very spontaneous response from our mysterious friend. i once had 3 summons for speeding in 2 months and i did pay the fine and promptly sold off the car cos it was attracting too much attention. with the Lau Pok Kais that i drive now, no summons in as many years as i have them. maybe because its not up to speed.

my TP friend tells me that cops like to give summon to owner with nice car, so if you can afford the nice car, be prepared to get caught even if its 5 km over the limit.

if you ever drive across some towns in UK, its even more ridiculous, camera every 50 meters and apparently the operators are on commission basis with the county administrators.

hope it helps......

Paiseh ah but...

1) Police must be seen so we don't misbehave. Ok lah, I apply golf. Marshall must be at every hole so we don't move our ball, etc. whole point of golf is integrity. By extension, our behaviour off the golf course too? Asking police to be at every corner means asking for a police state. We end up being like children who don't know how to behave unless we see the cane-wielding parent.

2) Lexus vs bike. Both Lexus and bike wrong. Bike likely for careless riding - turning without signalling and Lexus for following too closely. If you follow the correct speed and keep the correct distance, you will have time to react. Chain collisions on highways are always a result of not keeping safe distance and speed.

Again, I'm not trying to be difficult but yes, that bike accident...I had to pull my kids back on crossings (light in our favour) when cars, trucks and bikes beat the light.

DGman

thanks for your classy and kinds words..

i just drive a normal car... but i guess u r right... the catch based on the model...

my friend used to tell me driving a Mercs is better than a BMW

For mr Bangla123,

i guess he is trying to be funny... at the same time unprovokably offends people as his past time..

some people are just good for entertainment and nothing else....

Cheers

well bro, no point getting angry. we break the law we face it. if we get accused for something we did not do , then fight till justice is done. in this case, no choice, break the law face the music.

if want to drive slowly should not drive on extreme right.

anyway, in this case, it is not entrapment. entrapment is such that they entice you to speed then fine you, as someone had mentioned. by the way, in singapore entrapment is not illegal, unfortunately.

drive safe. learnt my lesson from a $500 fine 15 years ago. now guai guai. relax take your time.

i won't consider this as entrapment. entrapment will be more like an unmarked police car tailgating you and then books you when you speed up.

while i agree that we have a responsibility not to speed, the temptation is sometimes unbearable. wide open highway with no cars in sight, how to keep to 90?

just wondering, these speed trap devices don't work at night as you need some sort of flash to capture number plates?

not suggesting anything though...

Army saying: "do anything you want, just don't get caught"

In Sgp, maximum speed limit is 90kmh for most expressways, some 80kmh even.. Normal roads 50kmh unless otherwise stated... This from driving theory test..

Agree that the onus is for motorists to observe speed limits.. If one wants to speed, then be prepared for the consequences.. There's no guideline or restriction on TP in apprehending offenders.. It is worse in Australia...

"Can't do the time, don't do the crime"...

I have had numerous speeding fines before... Yes you can appeal and go down to TP at Ubi to request for the photo.. But, be prepared to wait for the whole day or half a day at least...

Just thank God you weren't driving faster than that cheers

Btw, please find the below locations of cameras...

Drive safe bros...

Which is precisely y I do not understand.. Regardless what ur excuse is, if u hv been caught speeding , suck it up and pay the fine. The manner how we are being presented with the fine is not up to us to understand, analyze or even come to terms with. We have already broken the law in the first place.

But the bit that I do not get is how is it related to heart landers ? Many of us heartlanders do not even condone what Andrew is ranting abt, as we already well aware is pointless and baseless. While trying to make a point, we created another which was lost to me to be honest..

TP also have white colour Sabaru WRX Impreza disguising as normal motorist. Some of the licence plates you have to watch up for are -

Do people actually have the time to read license plates when they're driving? If yes, then I think they're spending more time being distracted than driving in which case, they deserve to get a ticket.
