| I thought we are allowed to use any club but cannot take divots on putting surface.
My 2 cents worth...and I might be wrong. | |

| Ball to pin at the point time is approx 7-9m with steep up slope. Putting will be challenging.
So my understanding now is there is no rules and penalty to say that you can not chip on Green or it depends on the club's rules also
Cheers

| Recently, i seen someone using a wedge on green was not for chipping tho.. It was because his SC solo was misbehaving and he gave up on the putter and choose to use a 60d wedge. I think he putt better after that.

| my understanding is that you can chip and even make divots there is no rule against that...BUT the greenskeeper and people behind you are going to kill you if you make a big divot on the green so i guess its more of an etiquette thing | |

| no penalty by the rule book..dunno how the flight behind is going to putt with the patch up divots though lol..club rules usually will not allow for commercial and complain management purposes | |

| Phil Mickleson chipped on the green last year at Sentosa Barclays, I believe my brother took a video of that. Don't think its against the rules but like others have pointed out, its quite bad etiquette as the next flight after you might be affected. | |

| You are allowed to chip on the green. Jenny Shin did it in the playoff with Angela Standford, Fan Shan Shan and NYC in during the last HSBC Singapore Open in Tanah Merah ... | |

| seems one can use any club anywhere on the golf course during the game as long as u stick to the 14 clubs in bag rule.. some jokers even can tee off w a putter... see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0ZA5kG7qJ4&feature=related | |

| It is not against the rules, but if you do take a divot you better repair nicely or the Green keeper will chop your arms off.... A chipper club will not do much damage as it has a very wide sole as opposed to a real wedge.. (Chippers were invented for those who cannot chip ) | |

| You can chip anywhere but, what made u think chip is a easier shot than putt? The pro chip most likely because there's something on the green that they think putt will be harder... | |
