What about changing aligment, setup, process, and the stroke?
Hitting the putt versus stroking it?
IMHO, putting is personal only up to a point, you can't deny physics.
For sure equipment changes help, but hands up, those here who've actually sought professional help for the stroke? I did. The setup and stroke adjustments did wonders. The whole putting process has to feel right in order to putt decently.

| Good Morning Folks! Wow i was away for Saturday golf and is pleasantly surprised by so many passionate replies.. Really appreciate and thankful to everyone... from what i gathered, you are all correct... its a combination of putter confidence, mental and alignment... i feel i have all 3 issues... Mr Chien, Thanks for the offer.. but... "A gentleman does not take away the true love of another gentleman" Thanks for the sacrifice and if i do meet you, coffee on me to make a new friend.. Perhaps can start by changing the leather grip master grip... very slippery.. can anyone recommend me where i can change that without damaging it? After that maybe seek help in alignment?? can recommend? Many thanks and cheers BOTB | |

Can everyone share your feeling about your fav putter and how it has helped you win money or achieve great putting days or success?
Many thanks
BOTB
i used to have swing thoughts when i putt..... now i dun
whatever i need to work on, i would accomplish in my pre-shot routine...
when i address the ball, i just double check my line n putt.... i dun think abt my takeaway, my stroke etc etc
u can try this...putt the ball looking at the hole instead of the ball
main objective is to let u trust your stroke...
when i address, i dun think, i just trust...
works for me... Mr Slinger i tried the techniques that you quoted.. and i must say it worked well for me.. made a few clutch putts i basically focus more on plotting the line of the ball to the hole.. staring at the hole longer, hv a feel how much strength... and i putted better.. but need to change grip la.. thank you once again for the tips BOTB

| i think it is important not to break the wrist when putting. break the wrist i mean by bending it too much. is there anything to put on the wrist so that it wont bend while putting? saw someone using it before. | |

| @ BOTB - For both the leather grip and alignment, go to Big Fish Golf in Bukit Merah and see DGman. He has a dedicated putting zone which includes two purpose built putting greens. @ audi - I know of the device you are talking about, just can't recall the name. It's only a training aid though. You can make your own with an ice cream stick or plastic scoring pencil and rubber bands. Wear the rubber band snug around your left forearm just above the wrist. Then insert the stick or pencil (break off the lead tip) to keep your wrist from breaking down during the putting stroke. Cheap and effective. | |

| I find that staring at the hole bit longer and visualizing the ball going into the hole helps me a lot. Plus keeping my head still and only peaking at the ball as it heads for the hole helps me a lot as I have the tendency to look atthe ball causing pulls..using a Zen zap putter..rolls true | |

| Why very one focus on putter, but I focus on the ball, because is the ball going into the hole, so when I always buy ball, I ask for male ball, it works for me. | |

| BOTB bro You are most welcome... Moral of my story and what I wished to convey was...: Sometimes it's not really the putter bro.. When I showed everybody my putter, 9/10 laughed at me and some even asked, "is that a hammer ??" Many factors lead to good putting.. Besides some of those already mentioned, I believe tempo and psychological factors matter a lot too.. I have seen many players rushing through the whole putting process (of cos there are those who simply took way too long)... Many failed to read the lines properly, many failed to see the slopes etc.. Not to mention the mental aspect.. When the bets are getting too intense, the pressure comes in, etc.. Whether these are affecting you too.. When you fell your putting is deteriorating, have you tried playing a round with no bets or a very small stake? Just some of my personal experience.. And I certainly look forward to our coffee mate ! | |

| Mr chien Thanks for the input What u mentioned applied all to me. Haha However, bet or no bet I always play the same way.. I don't allow stray drives, 3 putts and duff chips.. Always try to minimize If I were to play that way and still lose. My opponent deserves to win. Yes, coffee is great and I hope you like Italian Cheers BOTB | |

| Close your eyes and envision your line and swing. Then start praying and hope someone upstairs is listening. Just don't fall asleep while putting, people don't like that. Never tried sacrificing a virgin, maybe that would work. Though need to find a virgin first. | |
