| Thought I would not enjoy golf since I came back last year as the weather here is too hot. After being dissed around by colleagues, 6 weeks ago I went out, bought an iron set with wedges off the rack, shoes, gloves etc, borrowed some woods and a putter (bot my own set since then.....) and went serapong.... Disastrous score, but guess what, I'm hooked on golf. Despite the sh1ty weather here. Pity my work related kakis are very seasoned and good players, but guess what is coming their way..... Ok I cant afford Sentosa, TMCC and SICC (anyway won't pass the cut with the wife even if I could) Living in the east and looking for sufficient number of kakis to form flights for night/evening and/or weekends. Which clube do you think I should research in more detail? Noticed from reading the threads here also that some guys became really good in about 1-2 years, so really motivated to start playing with some of the kakis here and get tips from them on their improvement. Side note: I went to visit a pro, he asked me what my goals were, I said " to be single handicapper by early next year" Pro: *Silence*. .... i guess he wasnt direct enough to tell me dream on dude..... | |

| Looking at the details, i would say Keppel is pretty under-rated. I would give it a much higher value and/or ranking. | |

| On the topic of keppel, are there many members in this forum? anyone by any chance works in the raffles place area, and sneaks in a 9 hole late afternoon weekday round? | |

| I'm surprised to note that nsrcc did not score higher in terms of conditioning. I feel that nsrcc's course condition (kranji and changi) is second only to TMCC and Sentosa, considering the fact that a flight of golfers get sent out every 7 mins in NSRCC even on weekdays. Case in point, how can Warren score higher than nsrcc for conditioning?
Of course generally, sg clubs are better maintained than the job clubs, that's my view anyway...

| I think it depends on when the test was done in 2011. If you look at the individual columns, some of the ratings are fair and its true that NSRCC are better than warren in terms of overall course conditions. But if you talk about clubhouse condition, i think they rated it correctly. | |

| 10reasons why Kepple is good. 1. The only golf club as near town at this price. 2. The only club that is accessible by MRT. 3. The best training ground in the whole of Singapore 4. The undulating fairway give you a good workout 5. The club is always "alive" day or night. 6. A gym overlooking the open sea 7. A hot and romantic jucuzee with a sea view 8. Good range of nice restaurants 9. Great upside potential 10. At this price $20K, it's a no brainer! Bonus: Park your car at kepple and take a train to CBD/work ( Save $300/mth | |

| i put in a bid for Keppel in the transfer market. slightly below last traded. See how it goes. . Clinching factors are i'm going to be sending my kid to AGC too, and proximity to my workplace ; so can "disappear" for 1-2 hours, go range, shower and back at my desk without anyone knowing any better. And can siam from office early and in 15mins, stand at tee-box. Then when I go play with my work mates, pretend I no practice and then skin them..... Also economy not doing so well, cannot anyhow buy this buy that..... | |

Also economy not doing so well, cannot anyhow buy this buy that..... Hi blong Thank you choosing Keppel Club. As a member of 10 years I hope you will find joy and fun as a member of the club... Just a couple of pointers before you commit.. With your best interests at heart and no other intentions..: 1. Non members can use the range too 2. With the various cards and MGK membership you can play @ Keppel and other courses at a very reasonable prices. Note that as member you still have to pay buggy fees 3. The club is left with about 10 years of lease. I personally feel they have to move given the prime location and blue print 2020. Thus I personally estimate some good amount of top ups from each members when that happens. Perhaps I'm wrong. But still this is an unknown issue... 4. If you wanna just the gym there are nice ones around town too.. 5. Non members can also dine at their various restaurants. 6. Perhaps it's good to check the last 10 years price movements for a better idea of its price potentials if you are looking from an investments point of view.. In any way... Perhaps it's good to play a couple of rounds at the club first, or any clubs you looking to buy, before making that commitment.. Spend some time in the club house. Feel their service level and whether you are happy with the facilities etc.. Lastly, ask around on the various credit card privileges.. I so know cimb, Ocbc platinum and perhaps uob Amex all have some golfing perks..
