Shaft Spine for Custom Set

Dear Titleist,

I was fitted for a custom set of 712 CB/MB combo's during Christmas last year.
Upon asking if my shafts were going to be spined... I was told that it will not because Titleist doesn't believe in such things.

Most fitters however recommend having shafts spined... As this was a custom order, I would like to find out why Titleist doesn't believe in spining shafts or why such a service doesn't exist.

Hi JonL_TK,

We have done tests with both our touring pros and top amateurs to see if we could measure a discernable difference in "spine aligned" or "pured" shafts. We have never been able to see or measure any performance difference whatsoever.  Therefore, we do not feel 'Spining' adds any performance improvement or benefit.  

The shafts that come in from different vendors have to fall within a tolerance as far as their frequencies go.  Meaning, if for whatever reason it doesn't test within a certain frequency, we will not build the club with that shaft.
