Wow.... Blue sky and everything nice!! Bro Pocketace... Is the humidity as intense as in Singapore?... perhaps it depends on the time of the year. So tempted to play there soon!

Weather has been kind past 4 days. During the day it's warm and sunny, humidity not as high as sg I feel but still on the high side
After Red Mountain, we played at Loch Palm the next day We walked 18 holes (following our local host) with caddies pulling our bags We almost died!!! Super exhausted

If I'm honest, most will prefer Red Mountain course when comparing all courses in Phuket
It is probably the most exclusive and premium course. The green fees and course condition reflect that
That explains why it is not as busy compared to Loch Palm, also within the same compound and apparently, under the same management
If I'm a tourist flying in to Phuket once in a blue moon, I have limited time on the island, if I were to play golf, Red Mountain will be top of the list

pocketace is right. red mountain is tops in phuket. i play in phuket on a regular basis and sometimes we just play in red mountain the whole trip. would recommend leaving red mountain to the last if you are playing multiple courses. if not you will find the rest of the courses lacking. just my 2cts worth.

Noted Bro Enwee, 1st time golfing there. AS long the weather is good, I think most of the courses should be fine.

Blue Canyon is way overrated though. Both course and facilities were getting worse for wear each time I played there.
Admittedly, it's been a few years since, and I hope conditions have improved. But for comparable green fees, Red Mountain is far and away the better course with a resort like atmosphere. It's the Sentosa Golf Club of Phuket.

Actually I thought the best value for $$$ course is phuket country club. But I think compulsory walking course.

Thanks Chien, Pocketace et al who posted great pictures and comments.
I'm headed off to Phuket for a couple of days and will take the chance to have a round at Red Mountain. Just me, my travel gang are not golfers unfortunately.
The rates seem to be much kinder for off peak either early morning 6.30am or 1.30pm or so. Anyone knows if it make any sense to do either timing ? Too wet and dense in the morning or it turns dark early ?
I will be driving.

Hi mate..
Think it's ok to start early... But, since 5+am may still be dark, just be careful when you drive..
Also, if you are playing alone, I'm sure you would want to be the first flight to tee off instead of getting stuck behind a slow 4 balls...
As always, please book your tee time to avoid disappointment..
Have a great time !
p/s: Bro Pocketace will add on his driving experience and parking issues..

The roads in Phuket are pretty good, thought street lighting may be a bit poor at certain stretches but over all still good.
They tend to drive quite fast (even pick up trucks and mini buses can go >100km/h), so if you cannot keep up, then take middle lane. Highways near road bends will have some road humps, they are quite flat type and locals basically fly over them without applying brakes
When you enter the Loch Palm / Red Mountain estate, you will make a right turn for Red Mountain. Keep driving all the way in, it's quite a distance from the main gate, do not be alarmed. They also tend to park their vehicles head in, so just follow.
Lastly, enjoy your game in Red Mountain. Tips are from 300thb upwards. Sgd20 is about 500thb.

Thought I would chip in my experience and two cents. *LONG POST*
Tee time - Monday, 25 November 7.30am.
Getting there:- Driving from Mai Khao (up North near the airport) to Red Mountain took 60mins (excluding 15mins detour GPS took us up another mountain drive). Setting off at 6am was very enjoyable drive - skies were turning lit, traffic minimal and city stirring just before awakening. Except road humps you had to slow down to 60km/h, the rest of the drive was gentle bends that allowed 100km/h or so.
The Clubhouse :- The bag drop off, registration, pro-shop, restaurant and changing rooms were all housed within a cosy facility. A short 40-50m away would be where you parked your car. I've attached a video that gives 360' view from the clubhouse (apologies for the shaky camera work).
Design of the course :- I really enjoyed the unique features and preservation areas of the course; much of the tin mining era were incorporated in the design. The layout and slopes were fun for me, I broke my personal bunker record of 10 (aim fairway find bunker, aim bunker find bunker... layup also find bunker). Having said that, I had a general feeling the course was not very long (not verified), so long as there was sensible club selection (playing with the elevation), I had opportunities to make par and birdie despite being short hitting.
Course Rating - Red 70.4, White 68.4, Yellow 70.4, Black 72.7 Slope Rating - Red 123, White 121, Yellow 128, Black 136.
Notable Holes :- Hole 1 Par 4 Looked daunting from the clubhouse but was very manageable (first hole usually sets the tone of my game) - found bunker and got a par. Signature Hole 17 Par 3 Push/ draw, found bunker and double bogeyed with atrocious putting.
Greens :- Immaculate conditions.
Caddy :- Sporting, convincing (was right in my club selection, I listened 50%) and good team player.
Food & Drinks :- BYO alcohol allowed (or at least nobody stopped us), they also gave us a coupon to redeem a free beer from the restaurant. Lunch at the clubhouse restaurant was yummy.
Email Reservation :- Bad. Total of 12 emails back and forth - replies were sketchy and had to follow-up 3 times to remind them to reply. Not able to proceed with online reservation because I did not have a full flight (as advised in writing).
Pricing :- They had since increased their green fees, effective 1 Nov 2013. Refer to attached price list. Unless you were to form a full flight to enjoy the online reservation specials peak/ off peak, I paid THB 5,800 green fees + THB 350 caddy + THB 700 buggy which approximates SGD 225 + SGD 14 + SGD 27 = SGD 266.
