Red Mountain Golf Course Phuket

Hallo guys...

My apologies for taking so long to post this review...

Still recovering from the trip with the kids and family..

Anyway, it was great fun playing with fellow forummers Patrick and Vincent.. We stayed around Karon beach area and it took us less than 30 mins of taxi ride to reach the golf course..

I was personally impressed upon arrival.. The main building itself is beautifully built, and very unlike my previous Thai golf courses experiences.. The booking in was easy and within 5 minutes we were ready at our buggy..

Before that, a check in the locker room just to confirm my first impression... Look:





How about that?? Very well ventilated and cool aircon.. Thats what you need in a golf locker room and not some foul carpet smell...

The first hole wasn't that daunting.. The overall course condition was good despite the rain and heavy shower the night before.. Every golfer was paired with a caddie in one buggy, which is compulsory.. My caddie was pretty good, very attentive in making me comfortable despite the drizzle.. I won't say the caddies in my flight were all experienced.



Here shows another great tee off by Vincent who had at least 10 pars that game..



One of the highlight of the course must be the steep Par 3 here..



I played 130m for my only birdie of the round, which was the saving grace of my otherwise not so good round of golf..

Condition of green is decent.. And the buggies went into the fairway, though just on the rough even after the rain..

The overall experience was great, though the food at the cafe wasn't cheap..

Beer was great, especially when it was sponsored by bro Patrick

It was great fun to have met Patrick and Vincent.. Especially on this nice course..

Well done man... I guess the feeling will be good to have birdie the signature hole of the course and u have done it...

As for Vincent, he is of no match to me as Ive 8 pars in 5 holes... Oops!!!! Wat a bad day for me at such a nice course. Hope u enjoy the beer and more to come in the future.

Lastly, a BIG thx to u for picking us up at our hotel with the taxi u arranged. Most of all, its the company that counts. Really appreciate that. Once again, thx bro Chien...

but still cheaper than blue canyon..

Is worth every penny, awesome layout.

Is this one of the better courses to go in Phuket?
I only have time to go for one game during my sept trip so need to choose carefully! Heh

IIRC, Its 5500 baht... ~S$220 inclusive of a caddie n a buggy to ONE GOLFER. Really worth it...

If S$220 is worth it, guess nothing more to mention. Just experience it.

Service was good too. Prior to game, we were given a towel each. It rain n we manage to continue after half an hour n we were given fresh towel delivered from the club house to us in the middle of the course.

Thank you.. As I am not a very good player, I prefer to struggle with my own clubs, so I have no excuses when I play worse.. Thus, I always bring my own clubs (except once at The Pines)

Phuket Airport is like most other less developed airport.. Just make sure you have a lock to zip up your golf bag, your clubs are arranged properly, and buy golf insurance in case any club got broken..

Lastly, pray hard before flying that you will see your golf bag when you arrive...

I played at Red Mountain today
greens are not that fast only running at 9 on the stimp meter
It's not the longest off the yellow (equivalent to our blue) tee, but the tight tee shots flanked by red boulders, forests, hazards meant you can't really spray it around. elevation changes also meant you need to be smart on club selection
here are some pictures, the views are stunning, for me, its kinda like playing at Ria Bintan without the seaview. highly recommended to play. I didn't score well today, hopefully better luck tomorrow at Loch Palm course
