They sell range finder too at an affordable price... although its not your NIKON or bushnell Bt I think can work. The effective range is 250m which I think its more than enough.
Any other affordable range finders besides the one from golf toys?
any one tried the bushnell version of the watch? http://www.bushnellgolf.com/gps/neo-plus-gps-watch.cfm http://www.golfsmith.com/product/30079209/bushnell-neo-plus-gps-watch http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Plus-Golf-Rangefinder-Watch/dp/B007XV7W46 http://www.golfwrx.com/31588/bushnell-neo-golf-gps-watch-review/ seems like a cheaper option from a reputable brand for rangefinder, would love to hear some local reviews on this item.
today straits times DL got promotion for SITEX starting tomorrow. @ $439.
*Ouch*
went to Sitex to look at the watch. It is preloaded with golf courses in Singapore, Malaysia, NZ, Aust, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines only. Because it is an Asia version, you can never download USA or Europe golf courses into the watch. You will need to buy a USA Garmin S3 version instead. This is similiar to their Garmin GPSs.

TGW is having a promotion for the same version, US$199, but of cos, its a 'USA' set.
Kinda thinking if there's a hack around it to load Asian maps in though.....

the garmin s3 looks quite usable. wonder how it feels on my wrist and swinging a club.(usually, i dont wear anything on my wrists).
how does this compare to apps (with preloaded maps) on smartphones?

don't know about watches but i downloaded golfshot app into my iphone. tried a few rounds and then gave up. too much bother to take out my phone, hit a shot, key in the distance for the club that was just hti and then repeat. of course you only do this if you want the app to track your games, your shots, and your distance. quite a drain on the battery. slows down my game too much!
i think these apps are better on a ipad or ipad mini or iphone on the golf cart and stays permanently on. then it behaves like the golf cart has a gps to measure distance and scores your game. on golfer.... too troublesome. however if you use the golfshot gps only to assess distance to green and hazard, i guess not too bad.

From Garmin Support:
Approach S1 is designed to work in the specific region it was purchased for, whether that is US/Canada or Europe.
As a result, additional regions cannot be bought or added to the device as it does not have additional space for other mapping. To prevent the purchase of mapping that cannot be utilized, Garmin’s website will only offer the free update that is relevant for your device.
For GPS device, I'm using Voice Caddie and it works great, superb accuracy. This little stuff works well and easy to carry around, convienient to use too.

Just that I will like to wear a watch for golfing and think that this Garmin's design is great, but if the GPS don't works then maybe I will just wear my Casio. Haha..
