| Yesterday, for the first time ever, i played golf all by myself for 9 holes, and then had to join up with another solo guy for the back 9. I must say playing solo golf is really quite enjoyable. Nobody to stress you, and because you're definitely always catching up with the flight in front, you can try as many shots as you want. It's like going to the range, but much better! Have to say i was quite disappointed when i joined up with the other guy, not that he was bad company or anything, just that i lost the freedom to do whatever i wanted on the course. You guys should try it sometime.. the next time your buddy cancels on you last minute (which is what happened to me), just go ahead and play - all by yourself | |

| If I travel to Bandung, Indonesia for my holiday, most of the times I play solo as most of my friends are working and I play on weekdays morning or afternoon.
Normally the course are very empty and it's just you with your caddy.... sometimes can play 2-3 balls.
Unlike golfing in Singapore, where everything is rushing... and still got chased by marshalls no matter how fast you play and no matter how empty the golf course is...

| Hi..just to share my experience on playing solo
I was playing in Palm Spring, solo with caddy, thru 18 holes.
Weather is nice, and no flight behind to stress me also. We even overtake the flight (3 balls) infront of us.
Thru 18 holes, I can really enjoy the view, the course, take my time to tee-off, to read the green, to practise swing and it was really nice.
The caddy was good, giving lots of advise and allow me to try different approach to the gree, like for example, par 3 hole, i can tee off with 7 iron, then try 8 iron to tee off again, and allow me to judge my distance..i guess no way i can do that here
I will definitely give it a try again next time.[left]

| Yup. Tried it before. Went to play solo one early morning at my home club in Malaysia. Starter was there but was quite happy to let me play. It's quite fun and pretty fast too.
I think there's a thread on this elsewhere too.

Yes yes... Mr. Lam, you played there before ? The caddies are very knowledgeable and lots of them are single handicappers too. Every Monday, in some golf course there in Bandung they hold their own small tournament for Caddies only...

| Playing solo is also fun.......I too had the opportunity to play once at MBGC....but find it more enjoyable at my adopted 'home' course....back in JB. Typical routine includes below: Hole #1: Mind , body and soul all roll into one...totally at peace with surrounding... Hole #2: Simulate trash talk ....self induced trash talk to accustomed to future coming games Hole #3: Play 2 balls...till somebody complain lor Hole #4: Try long drive..... Hole #5: Pretend to play like PGA tour player | |

| i used to play solo too at NSRCC.... but no chance to play 1 ball... normally i join flight with other strangers. enjoy it coz i got to observe how others play / approach and at the same time know more ppl...
nowadays much lesser due to time constraint.. the most once a while i will play 9 holes at NSRCC (join flight too)

| I enjoy playing by myself too, and generally try do so about once a week. I live in Shanghai, so I'm not sure if it's easier to play by oneself here compared to Singapore. | |

| No offences guys...I will never go solo in Golf as golf is to enjoy nature and good frens by your side ! 8) If only one ball, myself playing, i rather spend time to read a book or go and watch XMM along Orchard road. I only play solo in the Range, i don't talk or drink or hang around cos if i am in the range, is to work on somethings seriously wrong. No distraction, No chit chat, just full concentration on my shots. I am a different person in the range ! Sorry for my post, just my 2 cents worth ! | |

Oh yes... the shopping part is also crazy. Along with the traffic jam nowadays with people from Jakarta But Bandung has a number of nice golf course... Playing there is enjoyable as normally they're empty, and the cool weather! This is the last one I played in Bandung - Mountain View golf course Daunting long par 4 with narrow fairway : Short Par3 (120m) that looks quite long :

| Morning all, Playing SOLO was the name of the game when I needed to accumulate cards to qualify for the Clubs handicap. Very fun as like stated, nobody to rush you, play as you wish and can play up to 4 balls(as in a flight of 4) where you can adjust and try perfect your other 3 mis-shots. Occasionally have to join up as the crowd starts rolling in. Then again, playing with others has its benefit with the more seasoned giving pointers where you go wrong and how to improve the shots with the stance, grip and swing motion. Those were the days when I was working nights and head up to the course to play 9-holes before heading home to sleep. Nowadays, it's just weekend golf as time does not permit weekday games. | |
