tough for me to paste pics with my company firewall, will try to describe ...

At the base of the driver is a center portion and there are 2 sort of ridges above and below the words, the tape goes at the base of the ridges, 2 stripes, 1 above and 1 below

On a side note, I never faced a problem launching the ball in the stock configuration, i.e. 46in, but once I cut it down, especially taking 3/4 from the tip, which I believe makes it slightly stiffer, along with the reduction in swing weight, I found the shaft a bit "dead" and not as lively as before. Launch was noticeably lower as well.

However, once a bit of weight was added to the head, the shaft felt much more lively again and launch angle was higher as well.

From my limited understanding of these things, shaft flex is matched (among other things) to driver head weight. Thus an identical shaft, fitted onto 2 drivers heads, one heavier and one lighter, will feel stiffer on the lighter driver head.

The original plan was to take 1.5in off the driver (3/4 of tip and 3/4 off butt) but after taking the 3/4 off the tip and measuring the swingweight, taking 3/4 off the butt would not have been a good idea (swingweight would be somewhere in the high B region), so took only 1/4 off the butt.

However, taking that much off the tip probably stiffened it beyond my ability to "activate" the shaft consistently. I could only launch the ball well by hinging my wrists and lagging the club a lot more than was usual for me, leading to a HUGE drop in consistency of striking and direction. Adding that weight to the head probably made it slightly easier for me to load the shaft with my normal swing, and along with lowering the COG of the head, gave me better results with a swing I am comfortable with.
