| i have learnt something about golf swing.
the most obvious fault in a swing is normally the compensatory action for a series of errors. By fixing it, you will therefore not hit the ball well and you will train yourself to forget that corrective action as we are human and rely on what we see to feedback to our muscles to ingrain a movement pattern.
You would need to see a coach to get to the root of the problem and prescribe a drill to correct.
Go pm one of the pros here for advice.

| You've a classic case of 'casting' the club. You won't get good distance even if the sweetspot is struck. However, you spine angle is good and posture ok. Pic1 is good, cock wrist. If your hands' slightly lower towards the belt the angle of attack is better. Pic2 is where your problem starts; too anxious to return club to ball. You also initiate downswing wrong - this cannot hide. At pic2, wrist should still be cocked and clubhead still pointing skywards, quite similar to pic1; you lose the lag there. But yours already level with ground. At pic4, your head should not be so forward; chinup abit to allow right shoulder to pass under chin. Ideally, your left wrist should still be cocked at pic4. If you take a snapshot of your left hand when ball was struck, you'll find the cocked wrist is long gone - lose power. Make sure your teacher help you in this regard. Post more pic and we see if the teacher is dude or dud. | |

| Thank you for your reply. I longed don't have teacher. That's why I need help. Will try what you had said. During the practiced swing, everything ok. But, when wanted to hit the ball, all gone. - Start1993 wrote:

| IMHO,
1. Not enough shoulder turn on the backswing resulting in a less than full turn. 2. Initiation of the downswing is "forced" by the hands. They should be started from the hips or from the ground up. 3. Overly stiff hands resulted in a less-than-full extension in pic 4.
My take is, if you don't want to go for lessons, at least practice some drills that will help you with the swing. I believe our resident pros will help you with some drills.
Btw, the course seems nice. Where is it?

| The worst you can do is ask for advice on the net. Pictures help but they can only do that much.
Even though we have pros here who will be the ones qualified to help, they might teach or correct a different thing.
Best is to find one you trust and go ask him face-to-face. You will be surprised what a 1hr session can do for your game. It can be solved sometimes by something not in the process of the swing but the set-up like your grip and stance.

| THanks. The course was at Batam, Southlink. Very nice course, but, a lot of water. - rocky wrote:

| The statement is uncalled for.
The golf pro involved in this forum are on goodwill basis such that more golfers will enjoy the game and it is good for overall golf community and shall remain that way. Otherwise I think it will be better for me to withdraw from this forum.
Nonetheless, I shall chip in here to help the golfer concern as below:
I am not going to talk about the swing as it is a dynamic issue and it is a bit hard to analysis from the photo, however, looking picture 2, the club face is wide open (at about 8 oclock position, ie. club face facing the front), at picture 4, the club face is shut (at about 4 o'clock postion, ie club face facing the back). so the club face will need to rotate 180 degree coming in the impact zone (from 8 oclock position to 4 oclock position), it would be very slim chance (I reckon that is is less than 5%) for the club face to be in square position at the impact. I will like to make a wild guess that your ball is low running to the left of your target.
