| For those who want to save their time from watching the 15min video, here is the summary at the end.
1. set a clear goal 2. don't try to buy a better golf game 3. don't underclub your approach
1. set a goal and a clear plan to execute.
The keyword is PLAN. And the key element in PLAN is TIMELINE. Knowing WHAT you need to fix, HOW to fix it, and most importantly, BY WHEN to get it fixed. If there is not deadline, it will never get done. I am often guilty of this part, because 'fixing' is so much fun that I keep doing it.
2. don't try to buy a better game
The guy shot 78 with some very very old clubs which appears not to have any game improvement technology.... hmmm.... interesting.
3. don't underclub
The BEST distance for your irons, is not the same as the AVERAGE distance. If we choose the club for the approach shot based on the BEST we've hit them on the range on a perfect lie under perfect conditions, certainly it will be shorter out on the course.

Good points made, would also like to add 4.Losing your temper /patience Most of us aren't good enough/ don't practise enough to merit getting so angry about a bad shot. So relax ppl!

| Good point I recalled Arnold Palmer once said, we have no reason to be angry if we don't dedicate enough time to practice our weak areas (or any practice at all!). We are weekend hackers... To achieve what the Irish chap did, getting angry isn't one of his secrets to his success. But we all set expectations (unrealistic ones??) and I'm equally guilty | |

| 1. dont set a clear goal 2. don't try to improve your golf game by buying new clubs 3. underclubing your approach 4. dont focus on getting fundamentals right (posture, stance, alignment, grip) 5. don't prepare their game plan for a course beforehand 6. dont have a consistent pre-shot routine 7. dont practice the right things (just whacking balls in a loop mindlessly) or dont practice at all 8. endless search for the secret of golf, the best swing technique (there is none) 9. dont practice short game
no.10 coming in four days time

| number 10. Don't trust your club distance and swing tempo.
This is a sure goner for me. Trust the club, the relax swing and the loft to deliver the distance. I keep reminding myself but sometimes excitement and adrenaline got the better of me. Power normally resulted in stiff hand, hard grip, stiff body, hand action is the source of all disaster on my golf game.

| 1) I don't do practice swing on the tee box before teeing off. 2) I don't do practice swing when hitting from the fairway. 3) I don't do practice swing when chipping. 4) I don't do practice swing when putting. 5) I don't wear a glove when I play. And all this is because I am becoming lazy recently. Are these also sins? | |

| I don't think glove matter lah. I sometimes also lazy and just swing bare handed.. Sometimes at the range also bare footed | |

| just a little something off my golf programs for the GRians here..
Effective Practice (Long Game) • Always refer to notes made from lesson • Fundamentals • Get aligned. Use clubs or alignment sticks • Rehearse, rehearse and rehearse • Take your time, it’s not a race to finish your golf balls • Remember the sound and feel of good impact • Manage your time. (eg, 50 balls technique 30 target 10 routine) • Practice effectively (have a clear picture of what you want to do before each shot) • Don’t tinker. Be disciplined with what you are doing
Effective Practice (Short Game) • Use a maximum of 10 balls • Always practice different shots with different clubs • Practice from as many lies possible • Practice shots you aren’t good at • Simulate on course game play • Always incorporate skills tests, pressure tests into practice • Feel, imagination should be practiced more than technique
Effective Practice(Putting) • Practice speed (long putts) • Practice more breaking putts that straight ones • Develop a routine( read the line, pick a speed and execute) • Practice hitting putts solidly (drill with the ball placed between the 2 tees, putter head width apart)

| yes, willing to give it a try, no harm...but only from Dec onwards. Bcoz I'd have no time to practice till then, bcoz back problem/travels etc. by no means i hope to go very low, that takes a lot of practice time liao. I just want to consistently play 85-90. not just once every 10 games. so 90 days timetable should do it for me (see mistake no.1: no clear goal ). Join the program for 3 months. | |

What a sharing, Justin! Am sure newbies/old birds can learn a lot from your coaching.

| Then I will probably give it a try later this month after my overseas trip.
I hit my goal of breaking 90 this year, but my long term goal is still breaking 80, and playing low 80s/high 70s game. And I need as much help beside just throwing money at buying some sort of a decent game.
