| Here's my review of the course:
As this is a Executive par 3 course, the putting green are quite small and hence requires fair level of skill to hit GIR. Those who hate cow grass will not be happy to know that the course is all that. That being said, the cow grass makes excellent rough training should you fail to reach the green from tee off. As there are no long par 3s, (longes t is 138M), long hitters will be disappointed. However it is excellent training for season beginners like me who has problem hitting straight. (or at times shank/top /duff you name it)
The current tee boxes are in quite a terrible state, it is on very hard ground and the maintenance crew had just lay it with some sand did not really help. Really looking forward to the synthetic grass which they will put up in weeks to come. Sand bunker were quite nicely maintained but surprising I did not in get into any sand trap today. So no comments on the positioning of the traps.
Finally the location of Tanglin golf course and its free parking makes it an excellent option to have a quick 12 holes (1.5 hours) to stop your golf urgency, also if you can steal some time from work on a weekday afternoon. $32 + GST on weekday for 2 x 6 holes.

| Very seldom do I have the chance to be involved in any form of review. But this time, I was very lucky to have the chance to be involved in this.
So here is my 'quite humbling review'.
Before I get into the details, here are some key observations:
1. Be realistic..... 2. Be practical 3. Be ready to learn and in fact, maybe even re-learn
Got to the course on close to 6pm on 17th.....quite surprised as its was pretty empty....suddenly popped a familiar Young Gun with his Bridgestone irons....I was shocked when he was carrying his full bag.......but luckily after checking, his bag only contain irons and more specifically his new set of tity wedges.
About the course: since it was just revamp, the tee box was quite botak (ie no grass).but they filled it up with sand...so great, take it as practising on fairway bunker Hole distance wise, way bettter than last time when I was an aspiring golfer.....now, pretty good mix of distance.....92m - 138m. BUT here is the good thing....you can play around the tee off point and that will bring the tree into play.....meaning you need to be abit more creative to hit the greeen.
Bunker is great......nice sand....not the overly soft ones....
Green is small.....AND what I like coz I suck at it...is the fact that its slightly elevated greeen......my short game definitely needs to improve for such layout. the green is still WIP...reckon one more trimming will make it great.
ALL in all......value for money ...... come with the right frame of mind, and one will enjoy it. | |

| Never before do i have a chance to write a review about a newly reconfigured golf course, but this time i was lucky to have the chance to do so. The golf course here is none other than Tanglin Golf Course which had just been recofigured from 9 to 6 holes layout with length ranging from 96m to 138m. And the good thing about this course is that you don't need a PC or any HCP to play. Playing the course starting from hole 1, you will notice that the course sloping down from right to left and so is the green they break mostly from right to left. Once you make the turn after hole 3 you will notice that the terrain begins sloping from left to right. In comparison to Mandai, the course is a little bit "tight". Most of the trouble is on your left side as you play the course. The fence is on your left. Conservative play is important here. Long hitter should not bring anything longer than 9 iron. With it elevated tee off area, the ground is a bit hard and difficult to find a soft spot to tee up your ball. Only white tee available. The green too are elevated and a bit smallish. You need pin point accuracy to get GIR. If you won't be able to spin your ball efficiently onto the green, then it will goes on through behind the green. You can't really play a running shot onto the green unless your name is D_S. All in all..............though not fancy...........but really good value for money........good training ground to sharpen your irons...........come and play............ | |
