| I've.
Novel ways of cheating here as reported in the ST include tossing markers towards the flag when flightmates weren't looking.
How do you cheat? Subtly kick the ball to a better lie when others aren't looking?
Interested to know how to cheat and not caught.

Hi Start1993; sorry, i dont anyone here advocates cheating for golf.... i dont think golf is meant to be played in such a manner also, if you wish to learn cheating tricks or skills, perhaps go visit a magic training school, so far, i have not seen any GRers teaching others how to cheat...

| This is a good question. I believe in social golf there is some adjustment e,g not counting mulligans or taking a mulligan here and there. Also I think there could be error in understanding the rules when there is OB, lost ball, water, etc so miscounting is possible. I do believe people do adjust their scorecards before submitting --- is that cheating, perhaps but i suppose if you let your flights mates know what your submitting and they are okay with it should be fine...obviously it cant be a crazy adjustoment! I see this happen all the time... especially with people who have a low handicap and want to maintain it....
The word cheating is quite strong and i think a majority of golfers do not cheat...unless there is something large at stake!!!! hahha but even if they did they would be quite nervous about it coz its quite easy to traceback especially if you are scratch golfer or low handicapper... for the guy who shoots 40 over no one really cares!

no $$$ involved, just exchange shower practises........ Bet $$$ is no good cos it may hurt the friendship. It has been our usual practice to shower for our opponent should we lose the bet. How? Anyone interested to bet? Slinger is quite good at showering others.

| Back to topic.
I know there are quite a number of folks who submitted lower score than their actual play because they want to hit the magic number 18 so that they can play off blue tees. Is that counted as cheating?
On the other side of the fence especially outside of Asia, a lot of folks always claimed that they have much lower handicap than their true ability. Is that cheating too?
Some folks also claimed they didn't understand the rules well enough and unintentionally drop the ball outside the permitted threshold. Seriously, it is endless. As long as it doesn't hurt others' feelings or pockets, for hell I care if anyone cheats because they are only cheating themselves afterall.

| Technically if you scored a personal best and don't submit the scorecard for handicapping purposes, is it considered cheating on your true handicap? In a social game, if you kaki's play "preferred lies" do you also do likewise and would that be considered as cheating? I don't really care if ppl cheat or I cheat myself, as long as at the end of the round, you know you're only cheating yourself; and try not to get caught | |

| Mowen and I have a kaki. Typical for him: 1st shot - near water or OB line (1st to reach the place and 'declare' his ball is found or playable) 2nd shot - fairway 3rd shot - bunker 4th etc - muddling around and 3 putting include tap-in. 'Oi, what did you score ____?' 'Oh , I got a bogey (5)'. | |
