| My wife and I are coming out of our brief 'retirement' from golf since the birth of our 2 kids ;p
We're planning for a game next month in JB but would like to seek recommendations on which course to play at.
As we need to be back in sg by early afternoon to take over our kids back from the grandparents, here are our mission objectives:
1. Course within 30mins drive from JB customs 2. Course with 9-hole package available 3. Course that provide decent male caddies who can provide guidance along the way
Thanks! | |

| Why go through the hassle of driving all the way to JB for 9 holes?
If you need caddies, can try Jurong Country Club
If you guys have no h'cap can go Marina Bay Golf Course
Both offer 9 holes and u guys dun need to rush...

We go in in big bunches and are big suckers for good JB food... but your in-law restaurant must tahan the sound pollution we produced... If you are going in by woodlands, I think Johor Country Club is ideal... if going in by Tuas, Poresia or Horizon Hills will be good.

| Thanks!
By the way, how about places like Poresia, Palm Villa and Pulai Springs?
I've played at those courses before but that was a really long time back and I can't remember how far into JB they are..

| I recommend Daiman 18. Its within 30mins after JB customs; located in the area that's "opposite" JB Carrefour, because u need to make a u-turn at Carrefour.
rm$110 all through the weekend. no caddies, but buggy on fairway. not world class standard fairways, but decent greens.

| For 9 holes package, try Permas Jaya Golf Club. Weekday is about RM40 for 9 holes with buggy but no caddy. It's about 15 minutes fr Woodlands Checkpoint.
If you go through 2nd link, it will be either Poresia or Horizon Hills but not sure about caddy.
Another good 9 holes course in JB is Impian Emas Golf Club. About 20 minutes away from 2nd link and 30 minutes fr causeway. It's in good condition and managed by Ponderosa. http://www.ponderosagolf.com/v2/index.php/impian-emas-golf.html

9 hole rates at Sembawang for visitors S$28, including buggies. 18 holes x 2 = $56. Difference of only $3 if playing with a member.
But must plan ahead and book at least 5 days ahead.

| Thx for the recommendations.
We had our game in Impian Emas in the end. Nice course but lots of huge bunkers everywhere!
They are a bit strict compared to other places we've played before though.
My wife usually wears normal track shoes and put her clubs in my bag so only 1 golf bag between 2 people but they didn't want to allow us in at first. Sheesh. Its a weekday early morning lo... Were made to rent a golf bag and shoes...
Will try Horizon Hills next as we saw the signboard along the way to Impian Emas so therefore nearer.
Are they strict too? | |

| Golf course in Malaysia and Singapore are quite strict about dress codes (especially shoes) and sharing of golf bags.
Horizon Hills? Even stricter.
It's more relaxed in Australia and New Zealand on their country courses.

| Haha yeah. I guess we were just pushing our luck. Coz a bit tough for us to haul 2 golf bags into JB esp when we were taking mrt and bus all the way into JB. Only got driven to location when in JB itself. So we packed all the clubs into just one cart bag which I carried. As for the shoes..well, hopefully she can find a pair soon before our next game.. | |

| Had our 2nd game @ Pulai Springs on Thur. She was properly equipped this time! Quite near also, about 20-25 min drive from customs. As usual, played only the first 9 on the Pulai course. Heard thr Melena course is nicer? But buggy on track only. Do you guys find Pulai course a bit too narrow for comfort? And there's like other fairways almost always running parallel on both sidea to the one we're on. Aiming to play at Legends next. Gonna go for a full 18 this time. Is it much further in than Pulai Springs? | |

| Wow you guys did not drive in? Ok at least that explain why the trouble of carrying 2 golf bags, makes sense.
It's really inconvenient to play golf without own transport.

It's really inconvenient to play golf without own transport. We took mrt to Kranji then bus 170 across the causeway. Only took cab to the course from city square mall. A bit troublesome but nothing's stopping us! Thankfully we're still young and adventurous. Kekeke..

Many traffic lights and vehicle along that stretch. But that place got good Yong Tau Foo just outside the course.
