An update on my journey into the golfing world.

Had only my second game ever this morning. Played at Song Be Golf Resort. www.songbegolf.com Located about 45 mins away from Ho Chi Min City Centre.

Green Fees for Tuesday USD$62 (as member's guest)

It has 3 Nine Hole course. Palm, Lotus, Dessert. Played Palm and Lotus.

Tee off white maker today. played a total of 158 Stretcher HELP Shocked Sad Embarassed

Alot of Double Pars. All the par 3 were disasters. Could have 3 on for the par 4s but screwed up the approach shot. Landed in a few bunkers and each bunker took an average of 3 shots to get out.

Supringsly, had alot of 2 putts.

Best hole was a 315m Par 4. 4 on 2 put for a double bogey. Achieved this by driving with my 5 wood, 3 hybrid, 9i for approach but fell short and had to chip in.

realised that there are alot of things lacking in my game. both pyhsical and mentally. Physically, tired as was walking. Kept forgetting the basic things like not rushing your shots, keeping your head down as long as possible etc etc. Mentally, nerves got the better of me. Also course management was servely lacking. Flight mates kept telling me to relax and enjoy the game and not think too much. Play to my abilities.

I guess its back to the drawing board for me.

A quick note to all. Range will never ever replace experience / situations on the course.

S70B is right, its nicer to play with ppl that do not cheat...

Thinking of ur swing on the course is definitely a killer... the best swing you have on the day is the one u are using to swing the club.... trust your swing and your swing will help you.

Hi S70B,

It taught me not only about honesty but also humility and respect for the game of golf and all associated with it. I take it as a continous challenge to improve myself. As the game of golf evolves, I hope my game will evolve with it.

I think the best thing about golf is that you can never say you have mastered it as it continues to change. I hope you agree with me on that...

BTW, may not have met you but somehow I am in awe of your ability and drive to pursuit something you love.

HI weesern,

Agree with you totally. I will always be deeply appreciative of how my friends have taken me to play games with them even though they know I am a complete noob.

As much as I try not to think too much about my swing, most of time it creeps it..haiz....

Yes Will... we have all been through what you described... kakis not free, not keen... fat shots, air shots, huge slices etc...

My take? Play more with beginners who are a good sport. Laugh the game away yet at the same time, having the avenue to improve your game. Very Happy

Where do you usu play? We can play tog sometime - I'm also still in the stage of welcoming kakis, looking for kakis. Can PM me. Smile

I agree with you too... sometimes I like to go range alone... because that's when you can concentrate on your swings and all that... but sometimes you also feel like having some company, who can point out to you what you are doing alright and what not?

But more often than not, I have been going range alone for a looooonnnnnng time already. Neutral

I usually go to Keppel on weekdays... as it's nearer my workplace... so don't have to spend lots of time travelling...

What about you, jon8ball?

Yes yes, can go together sometime... I go to the range once every week actually... can PM me... Wink

dude distance doesn't come with experience necessarily, i am still very much a noob. the 260m is rarely on the same fairway i tee off lol and it's an avg of 240 carry, 260 is on a real ripper...i wish to one day fit my clubs so that i can achieve whatever's optimum for my swing but for now i'm plenty inconsistent and definitely still noobish...only distance is decent.

Just had my third game of my very very short golf life ( 5 months). Played here www.songbegolf.com It happens to be one of the closest courses to HCMC.

First played there one month ago and scored a 158. today go back and played to 125!!! managed to shave off 33 strokes!!!!! feel very very happy!!!!! played a few fantastic approach shots to land on the green.

The best shot of the day was a 5I approach 140m to pin located on back. Alot of space between 1st cut of green to pin. uphill from front to back. Landed on front of green, bounced and roll to 5 yards from the cup. Was shocked and very very surprised.

the feeling of the range can never ever replace the feeling of playing on the course....and teh experience & knowledge
