Forged irons have a solid construction and are most often have blade club heads. Beginner golfers might be better served by using cast irons which are cavity backed. These irons are best for those with high and mid level handicaps. A beginner could even benefit from a forged cavity backed iron which has a larger sweet spot than a blade iron. These irons offer more forgiveness even if the ball is not perfectly hit off the club head.
I have to admit...I am a bimbo in these.....even now ..I really donno the diff between MB, CB........all i know is the look of blade....of which I don know how to use...except its a putter

Just to check, are all blades forged ? anyone come across any blades that ain't forged?
Casting technology of club head came after 1990s(please correct me if I am wrong)
Hey Bro,
Have you seen the latest Taylormade MC TP iron? I believed they are muscleback in Cavity Back
yah saw the Taylormade Muscle Cavity TP iron.. these are half cavity(hybrid of CB and MB), the Taylormade MB TP irons with forged finish are then the musclebacks.
I was trying to learn from you guys how to tell the difference btw a forged muscleback vs a cast muscleback from the look of it.

mayb forged irons have the word "forged" etched on the clubheads.....
Question Is there a way to tell if a golf club is forged or cast by looking at it?
Answer by Chuck P/Earl of Sandwitch/Jason G The forged clubs usually have the word forged stamped on it somewhere. Blades are almost all forged and cavity backs are cast
Because of the forging process softer metal is used to preserve the dies. If the club is not stamped forged then look at the number of nicks and dents on the perimeter of the club. Forged irons will show bag where. The casting process allows for use of harder steels and not dent as easily.
The majority of the time it will say if the club is forged. Though some were forged, but they did not say indicate it.

But then why didnt some forged clubs etched on the word forged on it? especially the older ones... no budget back then or issit widely understood by the market that blades are forged?

Putting the word "forged" on the iron head carries some legal obligation I think. It says something about the quality of the head and is not used lightly. Some cavity has "forged" face, so they need to be specific that it is "face forged".
