Don't worry about it. Takes a bit of discipline, but really, after a while, you'll start to enjoy them, and wonder what all the initial worry was all about. What shaft did you choose to go with it?

Start an account with a photo hosting site, like photobucket, if you don't have one. Upload your photos there, and post the link here.

What shaft did you choose to go with it? KBS Tour 90 Firm... Well, that's what I told myself: now equipment is fitted and I did demonstrate that I can hit well... so it's the golfer who makes the call... work hard... Friends have been doubting my decision with blade hence confidence affected... My mental is weak... i admit... :p

Friends have been doubting my decision with blade hence confidence affected... My mental is weak... i admit... :p You have been fitted well, the KBS Tour 90 is very smooth, very nice to hit. I know the blades will motivate you to practice hard. Consider this. Last time, before the invention of cavity backs, game improvement sets, super game improvement sets, etc, ALL IRONS WERE BLADES. Furthermore, blades in those days were nothing like today's blades. They were really basic. Try to get your hands on an old set and try to hit it, and you'll see what I mean. They were truly difficult to launch. Now, imagine being a beginner in those days. What choice did they have? None. Only old fashioned super-hard blades. So, EVERYBODY from beginner to pros played blades. Blades today are nothing like what they were. Subtle improvements in club head design have made them friendlier. Of course, the modern cavity backs, game improvements and super game improvements have made it much easier to launch the ball compared with modern blades. But... They also made it easy to cultivate a poor swing with bad habits. The shots fly nonetheless, so there is little awareness of the bad habits, and therefore, little incentive to improve. And bad habits, after a certain amount of time and repetition, are ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to fix. I would consider you lucky, you have made the switch to blades early in your game. I wish I had done the same, instead of waiting 2 years. I can only imagine where my game would be today with 2 years of gaming blades under my belt. Darn it, I should have trusted myself instead of listening to the voices of doubt. Glad you did not make my mistake. The blades will tell you honestly whether or not you made a good swing. What you do with that is in your hands. If you can, educate your self on what a good swing is. If you can't, get help, get a coach, a GOOD coach. You've paid for a premium set. Match it with premium practice and/or premium coaching. The friends who said you are not good enough to play blades... let me guess... they are not playing blades, or at least, certainly not Miura 1957 LE small blades, right? Then, naturally, they have blade-envy, Miura 57 LE small blade envy. It's ok. They can't help it. If they know what they are missing, they won't say it. Today, ironically, I seldom practice my irons. They are solid, because I have learnt to get past the learning curve. And the skills to handle blades, once learnt, stays with you. Ironically, I was struggling with the hybrids, wood and driver - all the shafts have become TOO SOFT. The blades have given me a much more efficient swing. An efficient swing means more club head speed with the same effort. And it benefits all clubs, not just iron. No benefit to my wallet though, because it meant I put in 4 new, stiffer shafts into my hybrid and woods. Sometimes, when I am swinging poorly, I wonder why I installed X-stiff shaft in my driver. Then, when I found the flaw and fixed it, I wonder why my X-stiff shaft is so soft! That's the benefit of 'unforgiving.' You have no chance to get lazy and sloppy. No one runs your life but you. No one paid for the blades but you. No one swings the clubs for you but yourself. So, why should anyone's opinion matter but yours? If they haven't played with the 57 small blades before, what do they base their opinion on? With some solid practice, with some good instruction, I look forward soon to hearing how much your ball striking has improved. Enjoy your beautiful new toys.

Enjoy your beautiful new toys. Hi Lee, I have a question - assuming one trains with blades/small blades, which i have tried and agree that they are very good teachers, one learns to cultivate very precise ball striking ability and a very efficient swing, etc, and then that person then goes on to use cavity or muscle backs (perhaps also from miura), would that person have better, worse or same resultsa on the course? Cheers

then u will see if there is any difference... I have actually done that, not whole set, but just one club from each of the several sets - blade, muscle back, cavity back. at the nsrcc par3 course. Initially the blade is okay, but several holes in and under the blazing hot sun with slight loss of focus, the blades become really tough to use... and that's when use the more forgiving muscle or cavity back....

| once a person is capable of handling blade, cavity back will not be a problem at all... just that, CB covers you on a bad day where MB punishes you and make it even worse... | |

| Firstly, I mean no offence to anyone: just stating some of my observation and opinion.
Actually I find it odd that the people advocating that small size blades are the way to go; use new modern large cc drivers. In the same vein, shouldn't using small persimmon head drivers also train you to play better? Don't the new drivers help cultivate a poor swing with bad habits?
I've gamed blades before and in fact I used to think that if I could hit the long irons really well, I should have no issues with my other irons; this was partly what caused me to put a 2i in the bag last time. However when the hybrids came out, I found how easy it was to use them. I didn't need to bring my A game but could still play an enjoyable round.
Maybe I'm not a committed golfer like most on GR, but just a casual social weekend that's why I don't understand the push for going to blades to improve your game.
Peace
