- For chipping I recomend the Paul Runyan method. It is seldom taught these days as it is becoming one of those things that many younger teachers have no idea about.
The key points are as follows:
3. Ball is struck toward the toe of the club to eliminate any back spin potential
Hi all, I tried hitting the toe of the club but din work for me. the club keeps wobbing and is not stable. Good that it works for some.
As for me, I weaken my grip so the ball flies low. with the same back and through stroke, I use different clubs for different distance.
However, during range practice, I also try same club for different distance. so more distance, more back and through stroke.......
hhhhmmmmm many ways to skin the balls !!!!!!!cheers man For sure. If it did not work, it did not work. The best part is that you found something that works for you and you can take it to the course. That is sometimes better than the suggested remedy. There is not one "magic pill" that will cure all. The reason I suggested it is that it is a method that has stood the test of time and during my tenure as a professional I have seen major improvements in many of my students short games after teaching this method. Some did not like it, some did. The ones who did and practiced it, saw improvement in their short games and as a result lowered their handicap. The ones who did not worked on other types of methods that were successful. The key is finding something that fits you and what "you" like to do and feel comfortable with. Since I am "out of the game" so to speak I just chime in from time to time to try and help some people with a nugget here or a nugget there. Take it for what it is worth, a free tip from an old pro.....

- I have a related query if you guys don't mind me asking. Will the type of chip shot be also determined by the type of ball and green (soft & moist vs hard & dry)
I'm not talking about if you have lots of green or not enough green to work with
Assuming you have some amount of green to work with, I realized that with a high spin 3 piece ball on a more receptive green, the ball will often checked up such that I cannot really play a bump and run shot. Then I'm forced to play the ball a bit more forward in the stance and flight the ball a bit more which I'm less comfy in playing
If I still prefer a bump and run, what should I do? Chip with a hybrid or wood?? If u want to listen bro The more air time a ball has, the more it will spin...... and of course the least air time it has, the less it will spin and thus roll more

If you are asking me how I control my chips? Hit it longer, I hit harder. Hit it shorter, hit softer. No I am not asking how do you chip. I am asking how do you control the distance of your chip shot. Some are more handsy.....some may hinge and release Others prefer using the shoulder rocking motion to control.......passive hands Seems to me u are using hands to control

Jhan taught me to use 7i when at the fringe and chip it like a putt aka chip putt..... But if u use 7i in long rough, i think its very diff.....u need more loft to carry over......my 2 cents. I may be wrong.

Bro, I will just share with you what I am doing and u decide whether its logical. Note: u play with me before, take my advise at your own risk okie I carry 3 wedges, 52/56/60 I will use my shoulder rocking action to move the club shaft until it is parallel to the ground and then I will rock it down. This method of pitching will give me 3 distances 60 - 30m 56 - 40m 52 - 50m I will also use a 3/4 swing for these 3 clubs and it produce 60 - 60m 56 - 70m 52 - 80m If I need 90m, I will use a fishy PW which is around 48 degree. Bro, the point I am trying to drive at is use a specific club for a specific distance. No forcing. Let the loft of the club work for u. Not everybody can be a good long game player. But anybody can be a decent short game player as long as he put some effort into it. Hope my post is useful for u. And as usual our next game, 3-3 from you.

The key points are as follows:
1. Club sets in a vertical position (very upright) 2. Grip has opposing palms to help hinder un-needed wrist movement 3. Ball is struck toward the toe of the club to eliminate any back spin potential 4. Putting motion is used for the stroke 5. Air time vs. ground time is the most important calculation of the shot 6. Club is selected based on the ratio of time required in the air vs. how much time it will travel on the ground. 7. Ideal target spot is a few feet onto putting surface
There are variations to this as you become adept with respect to where you land the ball and how that will affect air time vs. ground time and also the ability to chip where you might enact some backspin. But for beginners it is a great way to get control of your chipping and learn how to use more than just one club when you are around the green.

thanks bro. will try it later on range
