am tempted to get mx 200s as well, brand price on the high side of my budget, thinking of getting it from 3balls or other overseas online shops and ship them in, even with GST and fitting done by golf house or other places still cheaper.

Since I started using my mizuno mx25, I've never go back to cast iron again. I think m200s is very good and new model. Forge irons are softer than cast iron. that's why it's better to put on iron covers to protect them.

yeah i got mine from timtheputterman at a really cheap price. abt 800+ SGD for 4-GW in dynalite gold xp R300. everything's brand new except the 6i. and i have to have my lie changed! all my irons on have wear on the heel. the toe is almost perfect. -_- can't wait for the iron covers from you-know-where to finish it's prototype stage too! haha

i am thinking of switching to forged but not sure if i can handle it...

gives me a feeling like those "blade" type of irons... need an considerable good swing and standard to handle it...

anyone can comment? forged easier to handle then cast?

IMHO, it is not true that forged clubs are easier to handle. In fact, it is the opposite. Reason being forging is usually done for higher end players clubs for most brands (except Mizuno), thus they normally come in blades and muscle-backed, with club face smaller & the sole thinner, which equals to 'not easy to handle'.

Taking the design of the club out of the equation, and everything else (configurations & specs) being equal, I think both cast & forged clubs will handle the same. Only difference being the forged clubs will feel softer, giving you a feeling that it's slicing through butter.

Speaking from personal experience, having a set of forged iron heads does not always mean great feel. 2 years ago I bought a set of Cally X-Tour Forged iron heads from a fitter, & had him put in NS-Pro 950 steel shafts in the heads. He did a lousy job, & I didn't have great feelings from that set. I changed to a set of TM TP irons (cast) 2 months back, with Project X Flighted shafts (nicely fitted at BF), & the feeling was 10 times better than my previous Cally X-Tour.

Conclusion, forged irons will feel great if you had them fitted properly by a trust-worthy fitter, & your skill level must be able to handle the clubs too.

IMHO, forging is a manufacturing process. It has nothing to do making the club easier to play or not. In general the game improvement cavities are cast because it's very difficult to forge out such designs.

Feel is subjective; clubhead, shaft, grip design/material will all lend to "feel".
I think it's slightly unfair to say that the clubfitter did a lousy job and you got bad feel, especially if they are 2 different shafts and clubhead design. You should discuss with the clubfitter what kind of "feel" you are going after; I personally like more active/kick feeling type shafts..

Most people associate the sound feedback with feel too; wear some earplugs and the clubs might feel "softer" too. I've added wooden dowels to my clubs before and they did make the clubs feel softer too; shock absorbing dampers into the shafts (yes, I've also tried weather strips hahaha)...

Very Happy

tht's wat i meant loh... forged is more difficult to use and for those ppl with better skill set, like SS, rex, and numerous golfers here....

sigh... i better still to my cast then.... outcast....... Sad
until i am more inspired to play more n train more... i can forget abt forged.

Yes, agreed, the ikasu forged cavities are easy to use.

lamts18, hows the TM? I'll wait another month or so more before I go US; leaning more towards the G15s. Maybe G15s and also pick up a used set of TM burner?

Oh.. just another thing I find interesting about the "forged vs cast" thing is that most "players" don't have issues playing cast wedges like the vokeys and clevelands (some like the 900s are forged) and find that the wedges feel very soft too. 8)

Actually when i said the fitter did a lousy job, i wasn't referring to him not fitting the club to my preferred 'feel'. His job was sloppy at best, even putting the 3i shaft into the 4i head, & vice versa. There were damages inside the hosels too, among other screw-ups. I was trying not to dwell too much on it in my last post lah..... Mad

Btw, there are game improvement forged irons in the market, predominantly Mizunos ~ MX-200 & MX-950. Give them a try... may suit you.
