alas... my journey still continues. i guess most folks are right. i am throwing ego out of the window and looking to lowering my scores with cheater-bug-equipment.

i can hear someone laughing, "still trying to buy lower score?"

i can hear someone laughing, "I thought u said that your journey has ended?"

i can hear someone just laughing. plain laughing.

Anyway, this is what a corner of the house will look like if almost everyone in the household is golf crazy and one of the family members has a loooooong journey.

The "One Putt" covers are the old BigFish covers prior to the current magnetic ones that they are selling. But I think S70B does not agree that the cover makes a difference to the putting. Razz

In fact, if you 3-4 putt... having a one putt cover can be quite embarrassing.

Good documentation of the golf journey. Well Done Muar Chee. So if you were to build your set from start again, what irons, woods, putter, etc. will be in your new bag?

shot 88 today off blues.

idol... i set a new target for myself... hiakz hiakz.

but honestly... i can feel myself already near my limit based on current skills. i blew 3 holes today; hole 9, 17 and 18. These are the phobia holes for me now. I more or less got hole 2 nailed down.

no birdies.
32 putts.
7/14 fairway hits.
6/18 GIRs.

On this lazy Saturday and after some tough times at work, nothing satisfies me more than taking some time to do some club maintenance and get intimate more with my clubs. After getting some tips from a certain club fitter, I dug up some car polish from some dingy corner of my home to polish the crown of my driver. I had some marks on the crown and it was very distracting for me.

Anyway, with this good Sunny Saturday, I could not help but take the opportunity to take some pictures and update this thread as mentioned the last time. I just cannot bear to let that good light go to waste.

This is my putter collection.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4038556413_1f1f22e7c7
With the covers on.

Same collection without the covers.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4039314958_4f2e7ce1b2

From left to right: T.P. Mills SoftTail, Ping Anser Mid-Slant, Zen ZA2, T.P. Mills Tradition, Scotty Cameron Detour 2, Zen Oracle Tour Mallet Putter.

This is the assortment of putter grips on the various putters.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4038558717_1ebdc91571

From the left, the red grip is the Golf Pride Tour Tradition Grip on my current gamer: Zen Oracle Tour Mallet Putter. The red leather grip is a Grip Master Stitchback grip and then you see 3 Ping Blackout Grips. The Orange Grip is the Dancing Scotty Cameron that came stock with the Detour.

My personal favourite is still the Ping Blackout. I just like the feel, texture and feedback of the grip. I feel really comfortable with it.

The first 2 putters that I own are Nickent Pipe Putters. The first one was with a double bend shaft and the second one is with a plumber"s neck. The putters were ok but it lacked the feel which I slowly learn to appreciate as I played more.

Scotty Cameron Detour 2

Just like most other golfers, Scotties became like a Holy Grail and a must-have. The first time I picked up a Scotty was actually the original Scotty Cameron Detour. Although it looked big and ugly, but I like the balance of the putter and how it felt through its swing path. Later, SC came up with the Detour 2 and 2.5. Following the Eldrick way, I just went for plumber's neck as that is what everyone else is using. After all, how can million other people be wrong?

But what really made me buy this Scotty was the wrong price tag: US$179. I took it up, saw the tag, immediately flipped it over to recheck its specifications; 35" long and Detour 2.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4038582659_077026eb73

I brought it to the counter and Cashier cashed it in at $179. I quickly paid and never looked back.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4039358834_bc54c82d8e

This was my first putter with a metal insert and I liked that soft feeling alot. The other thing that I also liked is the feel of the grip. I never had this kind of putter grip before; those velvety kind. Many kakis have often told me that my putting has improved alot once I switched to this. My balls rolled better and I was making more putts. The only thing that I was not happy about the putter is that I was also not able to make those long putts and my putts would always end up really short; only half way there. The softness of the putter makes it hard for me to comfortable control my putts when I gripped it abit harder or put too much speed/power in my stroke.

From here, I began my endless pursuit for the perfect putter. Then again, do a perfect putter really exist? I have yet to find out.

Through some really funky connections, I managed to lay my hands on this baby.

Ping Anser Mid-Slant

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4038623803_aa8d0162aa

What I really liked about this putter is the unique milling of the face. The groves are deep and the best and closest thing I can find to the RDE of a Zen Putter.

Even up till today, I really like this baby alot and I can make good putts with this most of the time. But what turned me off is the rusts that keep appearing on the head. The rust spots on the head really distracts me when I am addressing the ball for my putt.

T.P. Mills

I bought these TP Mills together and have only been gaming the SoftTail and as its name suggest, yes, it is also really soft. But what I really liked about the T.P. Mills putters is how the words are stamped. It makes the putter have a look that is hand-made and I think this is what that makes it unique.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4038596141_76eb58e272

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4038629995_4707dbd10c

Although, it is soft and I had some pretty good putting rounds with this. I still preferred everything about the Ping Anser and went back to it eventually.

Unfortunately, I never did take this baby out for a round.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4039352176_88c6aa0f4b

I just have a thing about the shiny surface might be too glaring and again distract me when I am addressing the ball. I just really like the way this putter is crafted and just want to keep one to appreciate at home slowly on my own. I might bring this baby out for a round one of this days. I am just really anticipating the softness of this baby with the Grip Master.

Zen Blade ZA2 Blade Putter

This is also like another Holy Grail to me, even since the introduction of the Zen Oracle, I just have been looking for a Zen Blade with the RDE face.

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4039341074_17db5db330

the journey so far... [CAUTION: PIX INTENSIVE] - Page 4 4039366114_7acb7a64c3

The feel of this beauty is awesome and beyond belief. Insert-less putter softer than a putter with an insert? It was a trouble using these on slow greens and for long putts just like the Scotty and I was back to Square One. In the end, I had to reluctantly admit that the Ping Anser was still better.

My review was done here.

Then...
