Do not restrict yourself consientiously to play with the same level if you really want to improve or want to know how to improve.
During my term as a Seasoned Beginner, I had the chance to play alongside with only a handful of real good players...and though I don think I can ever play like them, but I do know the few areas which i am lacking...be it course mgmt, shot selection etc (the small things)
PS: all in all, I hope to join in the games and will be great if we all can be part of the next GR event, and I really don mind playing level with some of you... Bro Duval, I am keen to have a game with you also. I totally agree with you that for beginners, it is important also to play with better players who can guide them and point out areas of improvement. However, I am not sure of the opportunities for some of the players here. I count myself lucky that I can play some golf as an excuse due to work and I have the chance to get plenty of tips and guidance from good players. Therefore, I do hope that many of the so-called high handicappers can join some of the GR events which I am sure, would be accommodating to different skill levels. Anyway, we just hope to use this thread to encourage real beginners (or "virgins" on green) to just come out and have fun, no need to give/take strokes, no need to foot lunch/dinner tabs and no bets. Actually, maybe we should have another sub-group in terms of average stroke counts per game. I do not see myself as a Beginner but someone who consistently break 100 to low-mid 90s. This should filter the list, separating those genuine beginners from the rest. I am 100% sure that there are people whose handicap is 24 and above, who shoot consistently mid-high 80s. Going just by the title, they also fit in this group. | |
