Ozik Radix 6 Review Empty
PostSubject: Ozik Radix 6 Review   Ozik Radix 6 Review I_icon_minitimeMon Dec 06, 2010 12:17 pm

Read much about the reviews on Radix shaft and finally took the plunge and installed one on my unused R9 head. I must admit that I was skeptical about the performance then when I first got it shafted and was merely trying to toy around until I eventually got to put it in play with the combo for the first time. Combo was a R9 420cc head with a Ozik Radix 6 SG (strong flex) shaft at @ 250 cpm-ed set at neutral. I wasn't expecting much for the fact that the Radix range is considered to be one of the lowest-priced amongst the Ozik line of shafts but hell was I wrong .....

For a medium priced range @ USD150 per shaft, I must say that the Radix 6 (can't say for other seires though) is value for money if I do a comparison against my existing Alpha 8.5 460cc head & a Whiteboard combo. Although supposedly to have a higher spin rate, mid/high launch characteristics, the Radix 6 didn't feel as though it has significant difference against my Whiteboard. When I did some waggering, its flex felt a tad softer than it should be but during the actual swing, the impact sending the ball off my driver face just blew my mind away. I won't say the feel is buttery, rather it felt as though the ball stayed at impact longer than my usual driver combo. The shaft is definitely easier to load compared to the Whiteboard and there was no significant distance lost overall despite that it did launch a lil higher, likewise the opposite. As far as dispersion is concerned, it beat my Whiteboard hands down and workability is astounding especially working on right to left ball flight for me as a right-handed golfer. To be honest, I am pretty sold to this shaft now as the pros exceeded my initial expectations for a USD150 shaft. Apart from my regular Alpha 8.5-Whiteboard combo, I also used a Tour Van Ping Rapture 7.5-Matrix Ozik TP7x combo and boy I must say this Radix 6 is as close as it can get. Can't really relate more since I have only brought it out for the first 18 holes and have not tested it with the LM yet but for anyone looking for a midprice shaft that performs, I would definitely recommend Radix 6 for a try.
