| Subject: What is the correct way to let flight play thru? Sat Dec 04, 2010 1:32 am | |
| Asking this because it happen to me when the flight in front of us ask us to play thru...
The flight of two infront (flight 1) ask us to play thru coz they are a bit slow due to the lady is a beginner... My flight consist of me and 2 ladies.
I tee off with the flight 1 hiding behind trees. When my frd abt to tee off, realised the guy is in her field of vision (right). Obviously my frd hit a bad shot and ball landed on left rough...
Since my ball is further I went to my ball and wait for my turn... after my frds hit their second shot and return to buggy, I saw the flight behind us (flight 3) tee off!!
Then the lady from flight one went to her ball and start hitting her ball... when is my turn, she was addressing her ball behind me... I dunno if she is going to hit or just practising... obviously I hit a very bad shot with my 3 wood to less than 100m... my mind is not even on the ball, I am just thinking about when a ball will come flying at me...
In the end we gave up and let flight 3 play thru us and somehow flight 1 is nowhere to be seen.... one guy from flight 3 can even play my ball and they have a caddy with them...
How should we let the back flight play thru??

| If I read your post correctly, flight 1 is somewhere on the fairway and you are at the tee box (of the same hole) when they requested you to play through. I think that's quite dangerous for flight 1 and your flight since there is no way flight 3 will know what's going on. The safer way would be to wait at the next tee box. If the behind flight has not arrived, you can tee off first then wait and ask if they wish to pass. Else you just play on. This is what I usually do and it has served me well. | |

| I think as long as the flight ask the flight behind to go thru, then its fine......
IF one want to go thru, then at least make sure that one's flight is a little more proefficient and ask with a little 'Pls'. Though I personally had not done that for the obvious reason, but if I am asked, yes I will let them play thru........but I will also be very keen to watch them play fm afar....hahaha

| flight 3 only reach the tee box after we drive off to our second shot... no idea why they tee off as well...
When you ask a flight to play thru, do you go and hit your ball when the other flight is driving to the ball? Isn't it more like joining the flight?
